To make the process smoother, we have amended the booking form and changed the snacks on offer to include a new hot snack. The new form is on the website and is also available from the school office. GOVERNOR OF THE [email protected] for February is Rich Jefferson. CONGRATULATIONS TO Sophie who took part in the Primary Mathematics Challenge. Sophie did really well and has achieved a Bronze Level certificate. REWARDS DAY - WEDNESDAY 8TH FEBRUARY 2017 As a reward for their great attitude to their learning this term, the children will be taking part in a Rewards Day. The children are allowed to come to school in cosy clothes. This could include: onesies, pyjamas, jogging bottoms or slippers. If children choose to wear slippers in school, please could they bring them in a separate carrier bag, labelled with their name. 'LET'S EXPLORE!' WOW DAY - FRIDAY 10TH FEBRUARY 2017 The children will be taking part in a 'Let's Explore!' WOW day, involving a range of activities to enrich their learning. We ask that Corston Class come to school dressed as Romans or Celts. This does not need to be a bought costume. An old sheet pinned like a toga over some plain clothes would be perfect. Alternatively, some plain clothes and cloak would be great for a Celt. We would like Seagry Class to come to school as explorers. This could include wellington boots, a rucksack, binoculars or even a net to catch a bear in! SPELLINGS Children are tested on their spellings every week. KS1 children are tested on Wednesdays and KS2 children are tested on Fridays. Please can you ensure your child practises their spellings as part of their weekly homework as this really makes a difference to their learning. You can find their spellings in their individual spelling book. Thank you for your support. CHANGE OF CLOTHES As the weather is still rather damp, please can children in KS1 have a change of clothes or waterproofs to keep in school. We love getting outside, but unfortunately, sometimes this means muddy or wet clothes which are uncomfortable and need to be changed. MEDICAL UPDATE Your child should have brought home a letter regarding ‘Medical Update’ today. Please could you complete and return to the school office by Friday 10th February. We need replies even if your child does not have a medical condition. Thank you. SWIMMING LESSONS – REPLIES URGENTLY NEEDED Please could parents of Year 5 and 6 children, who have not yet responded to the HomeContact message of 18th January, reply to indicate whether or not they can assist with transport. To clarify, we are asking for parents to take their own children directly to Somerford Walter Powell to meet the coach. This request does not apply to children who usually catch the school bus. We urgently need your replies so we can progress with our swimming arrangements. DATA COLLECTION – OUTSTANDING REPLIES Thank you to everyone who has already returned their Data Collection forms. Please could all outstanding forms be returned to the school office by Wednesday 8th February. Thank you. RECORDER LESSONS Earlier this week we had a visit from a tutor who is part of the Swindon Music Cooperative. The tutor shared assembly time with us and our children enjoyed learning about the different types of recorder available and what it would be like to learn to play the recorder. We sent a HomeContact message out on 1st February with full details of costs etc to gauge interest in lessons. Please could you reply, using the HomeContact system, by Monday 6th February. Thank you.
