PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION To help job seekers to gain employment by developing relevant career and job search skills through the delivery of the Career Pathway Assistance Program. SELECTION CRITERIA Essential Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Skills and experience in a training environment including group facilitation; Career knowledge, coaching, mentoring and counselling skills; Knowledge of local labour market; Demonstrated administration skills including the ability to maintain records; Effective time management and organisational skills along with demonstrated capacity to meet key performance indicators; Strong computer skills with the ability to use a number of different programs and software; and Demonstrated commitment to professional development in a fast-paced environment. Desirable Sound knowledge of services and programs available from Government and Community organisations; and Previous experience working within Job Services Australia or Disability Employment Services. SPECIAL CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS Essential Current Driver’s Licence Date Effective: 12th October 2012 Page 2 of 5 Version: 1.0 *Uncontrolled document when printed Owner: HR PD # Key Result Areas Job Seeker Assessment Key Duties Actively seek referrals from Employment Advisors for Career Pathway Training (CPT); Process referrals from Employment Advisers; Make assessments of job seekers’ capabilities in relation to work readiness and capacity to engage in further education/study; and Read Case Summary and Employment Pathway Plan; check for disclosed disability and (or) linguistic & cultural barriers; and any other relevant information, which may impact on a Job Seeker’s capacity to participate in training, seek and/or secure paid employment. Job Seeker Services Deliver CPT Programs that includes: Work First Get Into Certificate 1 Through these programs provide structured employment focused activities, such as: o career advice and career coaching; o job search training; o Tailored resume writing instruction develop skills to create, refine and tailor o Application letter writing (including addressing selection criteria and online applications) o Interview coaching o Industry specific training, designed to provide insight, test suitability and gauge Job Seeker interest in pursing employment and/or further training in a given field or occupation o Structured information sessions (eg apprenticeships/traineeships) Ensure training is linguistically and culturally appropriate; and make reasonable adjustment to programs to accommodate the needs of individual Job Seekers, where possible. Referral of job seekers to vacancies. Provide feedback to the EA so that they are then able to review/update Employment Pathway Plans (EPPs), as appropriate; Liaison with Employment Advisor or Employment Broker by implementing strategies (eg. All job seekers gain knowledge and job search techniques relevant to the local labour market Effectiveness of CPT activities measured in future employment and education placements All job seekers have a flash drive containing a professional and individually tailored resume including application templates; Adopting a Team Approach Networking other funds to achieve sustainable outcome. Actively promote your CPT Program to your Team to encourage referrals. Work with Employment Advisers to identify referrals and jointly provide job seeker skills assistance; Work with Employment Brokers or Employment Advisors to Reverse Market Job Seekers to gain employment; and Liaise with other stakeholders, such as employers; community workers, family members (if necessary, eg. DES clients). Administration Reverse Marketing & General Date Effective: 12th October 2012 Page 4 of 5 Liaising with employers to gain local labour market knowledge to include in a CPT Program or to provide specific industry only, ‘Get into’ Programs. Arrange guest presenters to enrich and validate training. Liaising with other RTOs in relation to relevant skills training; and Maintaining up to date job seeker resources – employer application forms, software, DVDs, forms and books. Monitor job seeker attendance, record participation in compulsory activities and enter detailed comments within the Employment Services System (ESS); Complete course booking, tracking and claim documentation Maintain Purchase Order and EPF documentation/ drawdown; Maintain accurate records; Provide weekly report to Area Manager; Adhere to confidentiality requirements and ensure security of documentation; and Observe Sureway’s policies and procedures. Undertake proactive marketing of job seekers through reverse marketing and establishing relationships with local employers; Version: 1.0 *Uncontrolled document when printed Owner: HR PD # Work with the EA/EB to assist job seekers to gain employment. Report at Staff or Buzz Meetings: number of referrals; weekly attendance rate; good new stories; and up & coming training events. Relevant local industry and training activities included in the Career Pathway Training Program. Preparing & organizing of specific industry only ‘Get Into’ Programs by liaising with other stakeholders, such as RTOs, employers & Apprenticeship Providers. All job seeker file notes and records meet Sureway’s SOP and DEEWR compliance standards; and Adherence to policies and procedures. Relationships are built with local employers which enable job Marketing Compliance General Promotion of Sureway services to job seekers, employers, external stakeholders and the general public. Promotion of good news stories seekers to gain employment; Positive representation of Sureway and its services in all forums.
