First Day
• The first day of middle school is really thrilling and filled with
new faces
• School starts at 8:05am, so make sure you get up at an
appropriate time
• You either get to school on the bus or as a car rider. Once you
get to school the teachers will take care of it from there
• 7th graders get the school to themselves on the first day
Teams
• Hopefully you know what team you are on…if not go to a
teacher right away
• You will be with your team all year, in academics, gym & health,
arts classes, and lunch
• Every teams has outstanding teachers
Lockers
• You will be assigned a locker with a combination of 3 numbers
• You will have time to practice opening it
• If you are having trouble, I recommend getting a lock you can
practice on at home
• Otherwise, in a few weeks you will be a pro
Academics
• You will have your 5 main subject classes everyday
• Make sure you have all of your materials that you need
• ALWAYS have enough pencils because those go quick!
Arts
• Your arts classes are on “A” days
• You will have Music & Careers, Computers, Art, Tech, and Family
Consumer Science
• The teachers are magnificent and you will a have a lot of fun!
Gym & Health
• For gym you are required to bring a change of clothes (girls
bring tons of hair ties!)
• You are also given a gym locker with a lock (different
combination)
• Make sure to keep extra clothes in your locker just in case
• For health you need to bring your own binder
• Don’t forget deodorant!
Lunch
• The lunches at NMS are amazing!
• There are three different lunch lines
• The first one is the featured lunch of that day, the second is the
sandwich line and the third is the pizza line
• You can sit with your friends wherever you please
• NMS is known for their cookies!
Sports
• At NMS we have several sports you can be a
part of
– Girls: volleyball, cheerleading, field hockey, soccer, softball,
track, and basketball
– Boys: basketball, football, soccer, track, wrestling, and
baseball
Clubs
• Clubs NMS offers include:
– Yearbook Club, Buddy Club, CRAFT PLAYERS, reading
Olympics, L-TAG, SADD, Music and Student Council
• These are usually all during RA period, you have
to be very committed to participate with these
activities
