CANOE BATTLESHIP RULES Day Tournament Games are played at UCCS Recreation Center Number of Players: 4 vs. 4 ROSTER Ø Ø Ø Ø Ø MAXIMUM OF 6 PLAYERS ON A All participants must bring their current UCCS ID to each game. Participants without proper identification will not be allowed to play. No other forms of identification (driver’s license, class schedule, etc.) will be accepted. Intramural regulations and policies concerning eligibility are in effect. All injuries must be reported to the supervisor on duty. IM supervisors are trained in first aid and CPR. Regulations published in the Intramural Sports Captain’s Manual will be the governing policies for all intramural sports. Team captains are responsible for possessing a thorough understanding of these regulations and their implications. All participants must be knowledgeable and adhere to swimming pool rules and regulations SPECIFIC GAME RULES AND SITUATIONS 1. Number of Players: a. Teams will consist of four (4) players in each canoe; any less than four (4) players will be considered a forfeit due to an unfair advantage of weight difference in the canoe. 2. Equipment: a. The Intramural Department will provide canoes and buckets. b. All equipment is subject to the approval of the Intramural Staff on duty. c. Players may NOT wear shoes. d. Players may NOT wear pads/braces above the waist, casts/splints at any time, baseball caps or bandanas with knots. e. Players MAY wear kneepads, covered knee braces, and headbands. f. Players MUST wear proper swim wear. g. Players may not wear any exposed jewelry of any type. Medical alert bracelets and necklaces are allowed only when covered and held down. 3. Playing the Game: a. Starting the Game: i. Participants will climb into their respective canoes from the edge of the pool while the canoes are on sides of the pools. No participant will attempt to enter the canoe while in the water. ii. Intramural Staff will survey all canoes for proper equipment and make sure all safety requirements are met. iii. Once canoes are inspected, they will spread out evenly throughout the water. iv. The Intramural supervisor will blow his/her whistle and the battle will begin. 4. Object of the Game: Contact us at [email protected] a. Each team will take their buckets and try to fill their opponent’s canoes with water until their canoe is sunk. The primary objective of the game is to be the last canoe standing. b. In order to move around in the pool, teams must use their hands or buckets. c. There will be no more than four (4) canoes in the water at one time. d. If the game comes to a stale mate with no team advancing on the others, the Intramural Staff in the pool will move canoes closer to each other. 5. Restrictions: a. Teams may not: i. Throw water from the inside of the canoe out into the pool or into another canoe 1. Penalty: the team committing the foul must fill up all their buckets and pour it into their canoe. 2. The second offence will be disqualification b. Stand up in their canoe at any time i. Penalty: the team committing the foul must fill up one of their buckets and pour it into their canoe. The second offence will be disqualification c. Jump out of their canoe at any time during the battle i. Penalty: the team committing the offence will be disqualified from the tournament d. Physically contact any member or equipment of another team to keep them from attacking or defending. This includes pushing off of other canoes in order to change directions. i. Penalty: the team committing the offence will be disqualified from the tournament e. Cross the boundaries set up by Intramural Staff i. Penalty: the team committing the foul must fill up their buckets and pour it into their canoe. 6. Sunken Ship: a. Once your canoe has been sunk or your team has been disqualified, all members must abandon the canoe and immediately exit the water. Intramural Staff in and around the pool will guide the canoe to its proper location. b.
