Abstract
In this study, electrospinning of chitosan and nanofibers production with antibacterial
properties were investigated. Nanofibers with average size range 50-150nm and appropriate
size distribution were synthesized by Electrospun of chitosan/poly (ethylene oxide) polymer
solution. Investigations showed that the chitosan/poly (ethylene oxide) polymer solution with a
ratio of 90 to 10 nm is the best polymer solution for nanofiber preparation. In continue the
antibacterial properties of thyme honey confirmed and used as additives with different
percentages to the polymer solution. In the study of electron microscopy scanning images
was found that the size of chitosan/poly (ethylene oxide) nanofibers with low percentages of
honey generated with appropriate size distribution about 70-120 nm, like solution of
chitosan/poly (ethylene oxide) without honey adding. However, with increasing the amount of
honey to chitosan polymer solution, the nodes were increased, but the uniformity of spray
droplets on the aluminum screen was observed.
