Position responsibilities Know, understand and comply with all Flyaway Gymnastics Policies, Procedures and Code of Conduct in relation to safe and professional coaching practices at all times. Make the safety and welfare of the student’s top priority at all times. Be an active coach who teaches with enthusiasm and who is inclusive of all. Know, understand and comply with the technical requirements for the current National Levels Competitive Program. Prepare programs consistent with the technical requirements of the competitive level responsible coaching Plan, prepare and be ready to teach. Know the skills level and requirements of each group being taught, turn up ready to teach, allowing time for equipment set up and roll taking if required. Teach all programs with respect to the scheduled equipment rotations and within current coaching qualifications. Know your limitations as a coach. Teach programs using a variety of coaching techniques and be adaptive to individual and group needs. Administer first aid as required, consistent with current qualifications and complete an incident report for all incidents of injury. Work cooperatively with, and in support of, other Flyaway team members, demonstrating team work and a consistent and cohesive approach at all times. Maintain a clean and tidy workplace, consistent with Flyaway Gymnastics Risk Management Policy and Occupational Health and Safety Standards. Report all hazards and incidents as they occur and in accordance with OH&S Policy and Procedure. Set up, pack up and put all equipment away after use, returning it to its designated home, leaving all apparatus ready for use by another group. Ensure that knowledge of coaching techniques is current and all qualifications are kept up to date. Demonstrate initiative by asking questions of more experienced coaches and by using reputable and trusted on line resources. Provide supervision, guidance and direction to junior/assistant coaching staff and clearly communicate session plans and their role in delivering the program when rostered together. Comply with Flyway Gymnastics Child Protection Policy. Outputs/Actions Know, understand and act according to the Coaches Code of Conduct and Contract of Employment. Work autonomously to teach competitive squads of up to 10 gymnasts. Supervise junior/assistant coaches to assist in the delivery of high level coaching techniques. Develop gymnasts consistent with the National levels program requirements and club standard of the level being taught, ensuring that all gymnasts are sufficiently prepared with a competent and safe skill level and ready to compete in set events. Perform testing/progression/skills assessments when required and follow current procedure and practice. Prepare periodic plans for groups responsible for, based around major events and required times of peak performance. Choreograph routines as per the National levels program requirements and consistent with the level of gymnast being taught. Attend competitions and other such events and perform associated coaching duties relating to being ‘coach in charge’ of the squad competing and in accordance with Attending Competitions and Events Policy. Check program communication boxes and hand out all information as and when required. Attend staff meetings and complete all action items as requested which support achieving the goals of the business. Assist in the preparation, set up and delivery of all major events as requested. Coach all programs consistent with current coaching qualifications and associated techniques, with appropriate use of drills, progressions and circuits Speak in encouraging tones with varying delivery techniques, never belittling, patronising or embarrassing participants. Teach with enthusiasm and with passion giving all participants a positive and memorable gymnastics experience. Skills and attributes Essential Proven ability to work with National Levels competitive gymnasts, attending competitions and demonstrated success. Knowledge and understanding of current WG/MG National Levels Program.
