For players about to move to a checking level.
Emphasis is placed on safety.
Learn and understand board utilization, checking angles and proper checking techniques.
Learn and practice how to receive and give checks to avoid injury and be effective in
different game situations.
Skaters are grouped by both age and ability level.
Full equipment is required!
Session 1: Mondays - March 17, 31 & April 7, 14 - 8:00-9:00 PM
Session 2: Sundays - March 23, 30 & April 6, 13 - 5:00-6:00 PM

Ice skating involves certain inherent risks, dangers and hazards that can result in serious personal injury. Use of rental skating equipment also involves
certain inherent risks, dangers and hazards that can result in serious personal injury. The skater and the skater’s parent or legal guardian assume and
accept all risk if injury while in Union Sports Arena. All skaters agree to abide by the posted Skaters Responsibility code and acknowledge that all
skaters skate at their own risk.
At all times, the skater and the skater’s parent or legal guardian shall be fully liable for personal injury and property damage incurred while in the Facility
and the skater and the skater’s legal guardian agree to defend and hold the Facility, its members, officers, agents and employees harmless against any
and all liability for claims, demands and causes of action asserted against the facility arising from skater’s use of the Facility or otherwise upon the
premises.

About Sergei Starikov:
Born in Chelyabinski, USSR, Sergei began his club career with the
local Traktor squad. He played for the USSR at the 1977 and 1978
World Junior Championships. He went on to play several years with the
Central Red Army and won a host of domestic titles and toured North
America in six Super Series. The crafty blueliner also played at the
1979 Challenge Cup, five World Championships, three Olympics (2
gold medals and 1 silver medal) and the 1984 Canada Cup.
Sergei was drafted 152nd overall by the NJ Devils in 1989. He played
16 games for the New Jersey Devils in 1989-90 wearing jersey #4 and
played for the San Diego Gulls of the IHL for the following 2 seasons.
Over the last several years, Sergei has coached at various local high
school and travel hockey programs as well as several hockey camps.
He is currently the head coach for the Jersey Penguins Peewee A
team.
