Silver coatings are attractive in optical systems because of their high intrinsic reflectance over a broad spectral range. There has always been a concern that silver’s tendency to tarnish will limit coating life, but Quantum has developed a highly durable
protected silver using state-of-the-art proprietary deposition techniques.
Our X-1 Silver meets all the standard durability and environmental tests — including
24 hour Salt Fog — without sacrificing broad band high reflectance. This makes X-1 an
excellent option for ground based systems and generally harsh environments.
