LORD FLETCHER`S BROOMBALL LEAGUE INFORMATION FOR

LORD FLETCHER’S BROOMBALL LEAGUE INFORMATION FOR NEW TEAMS
The league website will be updated soon for this upcoming season: www.lfbroomball.leaguetoolbox.com
We are in the process of modifying the existing rules, but Jes will attach a copy of last year’s rules in an email to you if needed.
The Rules document will explain what equipment is required and how many players are on the ice and explain all rules. A few
differences with Lord Fletcher’s Broomball versus Sanctioned Broomball are:
1. We play with a volleyball and not a broomball
2. We allow icing and offsides
3. Goalies have additional privileges/rules (see goalie section in rules)
4. Penalties run a little different
5. Players are allowed to play on multiple teams as long as they are a registered player on the rosters, however A players can’t
play on C teams and we limit how many A players can play on a B game or how many B players can play on a C team.
Also please note that in order to allow teams to play 10 games in a season,
all teams are required to play 1-2 Saturday games
Teams who play on Christmas Eve/New Years Eve and Christmas Day/New Year’s Day will have their first 2 weeks of games
scheduled on the Saturdays following the holidays.
Teams could play other teams from different levels (ie, a C team may play a B team or a B team may play a A team).
There will be a manager’s meeting in Mid-November. An email will be sent out to all of the captains from last year and those
interested this year. Please email [email protected] to be added to the captain's communication list.
Teams can sign-up for any night, however nights get booked up in this priority:
1. returning teams get “first dibs” to return on the night they played last year
2. returning teams get “next dibs” on playing their night of choice, pending they pay prior to Dec 15th
rd
3. new teams get 3 priority of the night which they want to play, as long as they pay prior to Dec 15th
Sundays we can take up to 32 teams and week nights we can take up to 16 teams. Although Mondays and Fridays we only ran 1 rink
due to lack of teams. Here’s the breakdown of the 68 teams who played last year (2014-2015):
Sunday = 22 (7 A, 7 B, 8 C)
Monday = 6 (2 B, 4 C)
Tuesday = 12 teams (3 A, 6 B, 3 C)
Wednesday = 14 (1 A, 10 B, 3 C)
Thursday = 11 (4 A, 1 B, 6 C)
Friday = 3 (3 C)
TEAM Entry Fees:




$575 - if paid the night of the Manager's Meeting (cash or check)
$600 - if paid before end of November
$650 - if paid on or before January 7th
$700 - if paid on or after January 8th
All schedules will be online a week prior to the first game. Please be aware of a $50 no-show fine if a team forfeited or bailed last
minute. Teams are not allowed to continue to play until they pay the fee.
We still have to pay the refs regardless to if the game is played or not plus we usually then have to give the team who shows up
another game to make up for the one they missed (which costs us 2 more refs). Some teams used the excuse of “too cold” to play
but hey, it’s MN and it’s an outdoor sport, so you are quite aware what you are getting yourself into.

Last year the season didn’t start until Jan 2 but the prior year we started on Dec 10 . We typically end the last weekend in
February. Only days we don’t play are around Christmas, New Year’s and usually only a half day on Superbowl Sunday (yes, we play
on Valentine’s day). If you are a new team with players who are also new to broomball, we’d suggest signing up as a C team on
either Monday, Thursday or Sunday.
