November Activity Highlight
In November the children tried to kick a ball using
only their feet. This activity helped the children
learn how to take turns and to keep their eyes on the
ball, so that they would know when to kick it. The
children also experimented with how much force to
use when kicking the ball. They learned that when
kicking the ball too softly the ball would not reach
their partners on the other end. However, when
kicking the ball a little harder the ball would reach
their friends. They also learned the vocabulary
words ball, feet, kick, soft, hard, no hands, and stays
on the ground in both English and Cantonese.
November Activity Highlight
In November the children worked on
balancing a ball inside a parachute. They did this as
a group, which meant that they needed to cooperate
with each other in order to keep the ball inside the
parachute. The children also learned how much
force they needed to lift the parachute up. They
learned that when the ball rolled close to them that
it was their turn to lift the parachute up with the
handles they were responsible for. This meant
keeping their eyes on the ball in order to swing the
parachute up as soon as it approached. They also
learned that the greater the force they used to lift
the parachute, the further away the ball would go.
The key vocabulary words that the children learned
through this activity were gentle, parachute, swing,
and cooperate.
Happy Holidays!
