Played in whites with a 156 Kookaburra Red ball (Club Match or Regulation).
An outright victory can be achieved.
The team batting first has a maximum of 55 overs at its disposal before a compulsory declaration is made.
Declarations cannot be made before the completion of 30 overs in any innings.
In the event of a match unlikely to result in an outright victory, the umpires in consultation with and the
agreement of both captains, can call off play in the match at any point after the 100th over is completed. This
does not apply to a match where neither team has had a second innings, the full 110 overs must be played.
10 minutes allowed for change of innings, if an innings closes i.e. bowled out or a declaration within 15 minutes
of either the lunch or tea break, the scheduled time break will replace the 10 minutes between innings break.
No overs are lost from 110 maximum, in any change of innings.
The follow on after the 1st innings of both teams are complete, can be enforced if the team that bats first has a
lead of 80 runs or more.
Fielding restrictions as per 2‐day cricket bowling restrictions max 16 overs per bowler per innings. A minimum
of 16 overs per hour is required
A new ball is optional for the 2nd Innings. If a new ball is not taken, then the ball from the 1st innings must be
used.
Points System
Outright win:
Outright win without First Innings:
First innings win:
Winning draw:
Losing draw:
Abandoned match:
Loss on the first innings:
3 points (this is on top of first innings points)
8 points
8 points
6 points (if it’s only a one innings result) – e.g. Team A bats first scores
230/8 and Team B scores 200/8, Team A gets winning draw and Team B
gets a losing draw
2 points (if it’s only a one innings result), if a team batting second doesn’t
get bowled out.
4 points each
0 points.
Bonus Points are accumulated by both teams throughout the match irrespective of the win/loss/draw points as
outlined above and for both innings.
Batting
0.01 for every run scored in the match. i.e. 152 runs = 1.52 points
Bowling
0.20 for each wicket taken in the match i.e. 6 wickets = 1.2 points
Ground Weather and Light (GWL)
If GWL becomes an issue, if a start is delayed beyond the scheduled time for lunch, lunch will be deemed to have
been taken and tea will be at the change of innings and be 20minutes. The tea interval can be reduced to 10
minutes as long as both Captains and umpires agree in order to make up time. The latest time that a match can
start will be 160 minutes’ left in the day (2hrs 40 mins) = 3:50pm start.
Should time be lost due to GWL the number of overs left in the day will be re calculated using 6:30pm as the finish
time and 16 overs per hour.
Should the team batting 1st complete their innings and then GWL reduce the remaining time available the latest
finish time can be extended to 7:00pm and tea reduced to 10 minutes. The target score for the team batting 2nd
will remain the same however unless they receive their full number of overs or either side wins outright the game
will be a draw and 4 points each plus bonus points will apply.
If the team batting first has started their innings and it has not completed their 55 overs when time is lost due to
GWL then the team can complete its 55 over's. The team batting 2nd will get the remaining overs to bat and the
target score for the team batting 2nd will remain the same and unless they receive their full number of overs or
either side wins outright the game will be a draw and 4 points each plus bonus points will apply.
Bad light will only become a factor if in the Umpires opinion it becomes dangerous for the batting side.
Scenario with GWL
Play starts at 10:30am
Team A Bats First, and at 46 over's play is stopped due to rain at 2pm.
1hr 20 minutes are lost due to rain and play starts at 3:20pm.
There is 3 hours play left as 10 minutes are also lost due to Tea Break with 6:30pm still as the finish time
48 over's play are left in the day
Team A bats 9 more over's and scores 195/8 off 55 overs
Team B bats and has the remaining 39 overs to score 196 to win outright
Team B scores 156/6 off 39 over's
The draw is the result as Team B only faced 39 overs’.
Points as follows
Team A 195/8
Draw 4 points, batting 1.95 points, bowling 1.2 points
Team B 156/6
Draw 4 points, batting 1.56 points, bowling 1.8 points
Scenario - 1 innings game
Maximum overs for the side batting first is 55 overs, however they can declare any time after 30 overs and give
the opposition their remaining overs left in the day (110 less the number of overs batted by the team batting 1st)
If the side batting first is bowled out before the end of their 55 overs the side batting second can get the overs
remaining (110 less the number of overs batted by the team batting 1st). The team batting second has the option
to claim the extra overs and these overs are claimed at the end of the 55 th over of the 2nd Innings. The Captain of
the batting side will inform the umpires of their decision at the completion of the 55 over.
Example
Side A bats 1st and scores 250 all out in 51 overs
Side B therefore has 59 overs if they choose (55 + 4 remaining overs) to score 251 to win.
Scenario 2 – 1 innings result
Team A bats first scores 260/8 from 55 overs.
Team A 2.6 pts. Team B 1.6 pts.
Team B scores 240/10 from 50 overs.
Both captains agree to call game off as only 5 overs remain in the day.
Match drawn.
Team A wins 1st innings 8 points, match total of 2.6 batting pts and 2 bowling pts. Total 12.6
Team B scores 2.4 batting pts and 1.6 bowling pts. Total 4 pts.
If Team B had not been bowled out, then they would get 2 pts for a losing draw and Team A 6 points for a winning
draw.
Scenario – 2 innings result
Team A bats first scores 140/10 in 38 overs.
Team A scores 1.4 batting points. Team B scores 2 bowling points.
Team B bats and scores 100/10 in 28 overs.
Team B scores 1 batting point. Team A scores and 2 bowling points. Team A claims 8 points for first innings win.
Therefore, the overs remaining to play in the day are the overs completed subtracted from 110 max for the day.
In this case 44 overs remain in the days play.
Team A bats again in their second innings and scores 90/6 in 30 overs and declares. Team A scores 0.9 batting
points. Team B scores 1.2 bowling points.
Team A leads the match by 130 runs. Team B bat second and have 14 overs to score 130 for the outright points (3).
Bonus points for runs and wickets keep accumulating.
So Team B finished on 60/4 chasing 130. Match drawn.
Points accumulated by each side are:
Team A. Batting points 1st innings 1.4pts, 2nd innings 0.9. Bowling points 1st innings 2pts, 2nd innings 0.8pt. First
innings win 8 points. Total: 13.1 points
Team B. Batting points 1st innings 1pt, 2nd innings 0.6pt, Bowling points 1st innings 2 pts, 2nd innings 1.2 pts. pts.
Total: 4.8 points.
Scenario – 2 innings result
Team A bats first and scores 80/10 from 22 overs.
Team B must bat at least 30 overs before declaring. 210/4 Declared from 44 overs
44 overs remaining in the match. Team B lead by 130
Team A 128/10 off 41.4 overs
First innings and Outright pts to Team B.
Team A 0.8 and 1.28 batting pts and .8 bowling pts. Match Total: 2.88pts
Team B 2.1 batting points and 4 bowling pts. 1st innings 8 pts and outright 3 pts. Match total: 16.1pts.
There are any number of other scenarios. Some games will go three innings and perhaps the odd
match 4 innings with maybe an outright win on the odd occasion.
