Daffodil Room Buttercup and Daisy Room Bluebell Room Street Nursery News Letter Derby StreetDerby Nursery Thistle Room We would like to welcome Stella and Daniel to the Thistle Room, we look forward to fun times with our new friends. This month we have been learning about woodland animals. We have been researching their habitats and which animals are nocturnal. We have enjoyed trips to the Mitchell Library to find information books about the animals and we have been on nature walks to the park looking for woodland animals. We have also been learning about the Commonwelath Games and the World Cup. We had lots of fun participating in our Commonwealth themed Sports Day in the park. We have also been exploring the topic of summer which we will continue in the coming month. Eco Schools It has been a very exciting month for Eco-Schools. We all had lots of fun at our coffee morning playing the tombola, getting our faces and nails painted and having lots of nice cakes and food. We raised an excellent total of £300. This money will be used to buy resources for our garden to encourage the birds and wildlife. We have also set up our monthly sponsorship. We would like to thank everyone very much for their participation and support at our coffee morning. We would not have raised such a great total without your wonderful support. Reminder to parents/carers and upcoming events Page 2 Page 2 Chef Belinda’s Recipe Carrot and Sweet Potato Soup Ingredients: Carrot Red onion Vegetable stock Sweet potato Garlic Peel the carrots, onions and sweet potato (keep a medium sized onion and sweet potato aside). Cup the peeled vegetables roughly and place in a large saucepan. Cover with water and bring to the boil. Once boiling reduce the heat to a simmer and add the vegetable stock and peeled garlic. Cook until the vegetables are soft. Once soft blend and add water and stock until you are happy with consistency. Dice the onion and sweet potato previously put aside and add to the pot. Cook until tender. Serve with crusty bread.
