China and Italy in the past
• CHINA
In 1919 China was a poor agricultural
country, but sixty years later it
became an industrial powerhouse. In
1980 its agricultural production
increased, thanks to the head of state
Deng, who allow farmers to keep a
portion of what they produced. In
this way yields increased.

People from central areas of the country move to
coastal areas.
• ITALY
Between years 55 and 63 , there was a significant
migration from the south Italy , but also from some
northern areas to the "industrial triangle"(Torino,
Milano and Genova).
The reason that led people to migrate were the poor
living and working conditions.
China and Italy today
• China
Today in China there are many problems, like the
wasteful construction and excess capacity, in fact
a big industrial sector produce more than the
country can use.
China needs to grow by improving urban
productivity, rather than simply by moving
people off the farm to work in industrial jobs.
In Italy, during the crisis
period the internal
migration haven't
decreased, in fact
between 2011 and
2012 many people,
especially from
Naples, have moved
into region as Emilia
Romagna and Trentino
Alto Adige.
According to the ISTAT
statistics about
156.000 people have
moved from south to
north Italy.
When a person arrive in a new place, it is always seen
as different, and this is the main cause of
discrimination.
