UoN teams shine in the NASOKUSA League
The University of Nairobi (UoN) soccer, volleyball, netball, basketball and hockey teams
recorded good results at the NASOKUSA League.
The League opened for the second season on 28, 2017 at the UoN Main Campus sports
grounds.
The teams did not let their fans down as they continued with the good performance
exhibited in the first season of the games which ended in December 2016.
The UoN soccer team beat the Catholic University of East Africa team one goal to nil.
Hockey men trounced Technical University of Kenya (TUK) 4:0, while the ladies team easily
saw of Cooperative University to a 3:0 defeat. Handball had UoN ladies beating TUK Ladies
19:15. In the volleyball games played on the same day, UoN men easily triumphed over AIU
3 sets to none, with a 25:14, 25:12 and 25:13 sets. The Ladies team narrowly lost to
Strathmore 3 sets to 2 on a game played on January 29,2017.
Another narrow loss was for the Men’s basketball team to TUK by one point, the final score
being 43:45. The Ladies basketball team did not have their match as Multimedia University
failed to honour the fixture.
The league continues next weekend.
Mean Machine hosts Mwamba at the main campus grounds
The University of Nairobi Rugby Teams, Mean Machine A & B hosted Mwamba RFC A & B at
the Main Campus grounds for a Kenya Cup Game. Both games ended in favour of Mwamba
with a 23 to 10 defeat over Machine A and a 17:10 win over Machine B.
Although both UoN teams lost in these fixtures, Mean Machine has shown a steady
improvement in the quality of their game in this season, especially now that they acquired
weights to train with for strength building. This is no doubt a team to watch out for.
