What is a Shining Light and All Star?

What is a Shining Light?
A Shining Light award is given to a child who the class teacher or TA believes
has demonstrated our core values during the week. They may have shown
great responsibility in their learning, behaviour or management of
relationships. They may have shown acceptance of others needs, beliefs or
personal situations. They may have demonstrated forgiveness or have
shown a strong sense of justice.
What is an All Star?
An All Star award is given to a child who has shown an exemplary attitude
towards their learning, they may have shown great perseverance for
example. An All Star award usually reflects our seven Cs.

We believe our students should be:
CARING
Be interested in your school and the other students and concerned about their
welfare. Look out for others, do not bully.
CONSIDERATE
Respect others and their property. Take care not to inconvenience or hurt others.
Open doors and clear up your litter.
COMMUNICATIVE
Be willing to talk and pass on information to other students and teachers. Get your
ideas across and open up in class.
COURTEOUS
Be polite and demonstrate good manners (Please, thank you, put your hand up).
CO-OPERATIVE
Work with others in a helpful way. Be willing to do things when asked to.
CONSCIENTIOUS
Be honest and do the right thing. Get involved in all aspects of school. Get things done
and follow through a task.
CONFIDENT
Be positive and sure, saying I CAN (not I CAN’T). Feel able to talk and listen to
others.

all.
Fairness and justice can mean supporting
some more than others.
Understanding that we all have a role to play
in creating a fair world.
