Introduction of a new burglar alarm system, the “Volvo Anti Theft System” .The
new alarm fulfils the demands of both TNO’s and Tatcham’s highest insurance
class which give our customers an approved higher transport insurance
coverage.
Two new variants will be introduced ALARM-B (burglar alarm) and UALARMB
(without burglar alarm).
The system is customised for Volvo’s trucks in order to give the best possible
protection against burglary, theft and assault.
This new alarm system is integrated with the earlier introduced “Immobiliser”
and has a lot of functions in order to give as high security level as possible.
Alarm status information is shown on the driver information display.
The alarm monitors the doors, the luggage compartment doors and the grille. It
also detects if the cab is tilted, if something moves inside the cab or if the
battery is disconnected.
If an unauthorised entry or tampering with the truck is detected the siren will
start to sound and the vehicle direction indicators will start to flash.
The siren will alarm (100dB A) for 28 seconds and be quiet for five seconds
repeatedly for not more than five minutes. When the driver sleeps in the cab or
the truck is parked on a ferry the movement sensor and the cab tilt sensor can
be disabled (button location, see next page).
