INTRODUCTION
Vietnam agarwood Association (VAA)
is a nongovermental organization since
2004
and
currently
under
administration
of
the
Vietnam
aromatic Association (VOCA). From
2010, VAA divide from VOCA and
Ministry of the interior decided to
establish, Ministry of Agriculture and
Rural development.
VAA is responsible for management
function of agarwood industry such as
to research development strategy, to
research scientific applications and to
transfer creating agarwood and it’s oil
extraction technology, VAA cooperates
with manufacturers of handicrafts,
processed products from agarwood for
business to contribute to the economic
development of Vietnam.
VAA has close relation with
international organization and
the nations of the world, who
has products and agarwood
consumption such as: China,
Japan,
Korea,
Thailand,
Maylaisia, Indonesia, Singapore,
Taiwan, Middle Easts and Other
nations.
Functions and mission
Research anh development (R&D), application,
transfer R&D products derived from agarwood and
materials for agarwood plants at Vietnam.
Improve yield, products, quality of agarwood
and conservation of these plants, genetic resource.
Research to develop to make products derived
from Aqualaria trees, improving productivity,
artificial agarwood quality, transfer of technology
consulting to create good agarwood, bring high
economic efficiency.
Organize
science
services,
technology
transfering, trainings, production and doing business
that are relevant to agarwood oil and plants.
Analysis of the quality of products, agarwood
products for scientific research and
quality
management.
Cooperation Organisation - links with local and
international organizations for research, production
and trading of products agarwood, agarwood oils.
Training technical member specialized in agarwood,
improve professional qualifications to develop
Vietnam agarwood industry.
DEVELOPMENT TREND
AGARWOOD VIETNAM
PREAMBLE
Aqualaria (and KY NAM) was created by
agarwood tree has a long history in Vietnam. But
recently the interest in developing this plant is a
topical issue. There were technical sediments
from agarwood trees initially planted in home
gardens
for
high
economic
efficiency.
But the situation is that, in the past years
agarwood trees also need to assess what has
been achieved and what needs to overcome in
order to draw a good lesson for those in the tree
the next time.

THE ACHIEVEMENTS
+ With the support of local authorities and
diligence of the farmers, agarwood
plantation was developed to nearly 25
provinces and reached totally 22.000ha in 2013.
+ There are many private workshops , and
a large consumtion of the agarwood helps
farmers to plant aqualaria trees along
Vietnam.
+ There are many topics in science, has
for many economic efficiency helped
aqualaria sustainable development in recent
years.

Many companies and farms have invested agarwood
trees with an area of hundreds of hectares on the
Central
Highlands
and
the
South
East.
Many studies of agarwood , oil distillation has been
tested
and
monitored.
Through contact some local and foreign companies,
shows that the market of oil deposits, incense ... within
the next 5-10 years is very large.

The development of aqualaria trees in
recent years is very large, with good goals,

farmers.
The demand for incense and agarwood oil
in the world is now very large, the supply is
only about 40% of demand. Therefore in the
next 5-10 years the consumption of products of
agarwood trees in the gardens will rapidly
increased.
