Family Faith Formation Program Philosophy
St. John the Baptist’s Family Faith Formation programs strive to provide an atmosphere where families—
parents, children, and youth can experience God’s love and Word so that faith may become living,
conscious, and active. This experience is nurtured through a growing knowledge of Jesus and the Gospel
message and experiencing community through worship and prayer. The goal is for each person to
gradually commit themselves, according to their age and ability, to living out Christian values in their
everyday life.
St. John’s Community looks to the family, the “domestic church,” as the most important Christian
influence, since it is in the home that a child learns faith. Religious formation classes reinforce the
traditions of our faith and each child’s Roman Catholic identity. The parish supports the child and family
in learning to celebrate our Catholic Christian faith in community.
St. John’s Family Faith Formation commits itself to a close collaboration with the family and the parish
community to fulfill this mission.
