UCL HUMAN COMMUNICATION SCIENCE

INFORMATION SHEET FOR CHILDREN (6 – 11 years)
Understanding words and listening to sounds
We work at UCL, a university in London. We’re
interested in how what you hear might help you to
learn more about language. That’s why we want to play
some games about words and sounds with you.
Some of the games we would like to play ask you to
name some pictures. Others ask you to point to a
picture that matches what you have just heard. In
another game you make patterns with blocks. We also
play computer games. In these games you will need to
listen carefully to cartoon characters as they make
different sounds. If you don’t want to play any of the
games, just say so. You can stop at any time.
Please ask if you have any questions! You or your parents can
call or email me, Douglas MacCutcheon, on 0207 679 24283,
or [email protected].
