Assistant Coaches
The Ravensong Waterdancers Synchronized Swimming Club is in a period of growth
and development and we are seeking Assistant Coaches for the upcoming 2015-2016
Season. If you have a desire to teach and mentor young children, here is your
opportunity.
Our club provides programming for individuals aged 7 years to adult, who participate in one of the following
levels: Recreation, Advanced Recreation, Masters (adults only), or Competitive. Our season runs from midSeptember to the end of May. Practice days and times are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:307:30pm in Qualicum Beach, and Sundays from 4-7pm in Nanaimo.
CLUB MANDATE: Provide a great synchronized swimming experience for our athletes in a safe and fun
environment.
The Assistant Coaches will work with our Head Coach Carol MacFayden to ensure our athletes have a positive
experience, learn new skills, and have fun while being involved in our Club. The Club offers competitive wages
and includes per diems, travel reimbursement and mileage. The Club would be willing to consider some
flexibility with practice days and times.
Required Skills and Abilities:












Demonstrated skills in leadership and developing team unity with athletes
Develop appropriate training plans and make best use of pool/practice time and equipment available
Positive, passionate attitude
Support and promote Ravensong Waterdancer’s mandate
Communicate well with all club members, work as a team player
Provide mentorship and monitor, advise and promote athlete development
Identify individual’s needs
Coach both figures and routines for the specific level
Participate in club functions (two annual water shows, potluck socials)
Prepare athletes for their specific competitions if applicable
Participate in all competitions and training events specific to team
Willingness to further synchro-specific education
All applications will be reviewed and kept confidentially on file. The Club welcomes all applicants, preference
will be given to candidates with Water Safety Instructor or Synchro Coaching certification, or equivalent
experience and education, however we welcome all applicants. Ideally coaches should be ready to work
September 2015.
