Dear Teachers/Parents,
Please find attached information and an application form for students to be part of the Cross
Network Arts Project Concert Band or String Ensemble.
These ensembles are part of the Cross Network Creative and Performing Arts Project, an initiative
supported by the Directors of the Bankstown, Campbelltown, Macarthur and Glenfield Networks. We are
seeking students from year 4 to 11 who have some experience playing a concert band or orchestral string
instrument, with a minimum of 1 year playing their instrument or an AMEB Grade 1 or equivalent.
Places in these programs will be limited. We will not be holding auditions for a place however we
will rely on students being nominated by teachers at their school who can vouch for a student’s ability.
This is an excellent chance for students to access additional opportunities in music. Students will
learn, practice and perform several pieces of music together. T he ensembles will perform at the Cross
Network Concert on 7th September 2017 at Bankstown Sports Club.
If accepted into the concert band or string ensemble, students may be asked to honour the
following commitments:
- Rehearsals during school hours or after school (at the discretion of the band co-ordinator)
- Payment of a fee of $25.00 to cover the cost of music scores and photocopying
- Organisation of individual transport to and from each rehearsal and performance
- Individual practise of band parts prior to weekend band camp
- Attendance of both days of a two day (non-residential) weekend band camp on 17th – 18th June 2017 at
Macquarie Fields High School
- Individual practise of band parts prior to final rehearsal and performance.
