Neighborhood Email Page 1 of 2 Where Old Computer Go to Die A recent issue of WinXPNews did a poll about where people take their old computer hardware when it no longer meets their needs. One of their top responses was their local church or synagogue. This is sort of scary! If it didn't work at home why do people assume it will work for a congregation? So, what do you do with it? Computer cannot go in the garbage - they must be recycled. Monitors for example contain toxic chemicals if broken. Here are some web resources for computer recycling and donation: The National Cristina Foundation, NCF provides computer technology and solutions to give people with disabilities, students at risk and economically disadvantaged persons the opportunity, through training, to lead more independent and productive lives. Earth 911, this is a great general recycling resource. You can find out about specific programs and recycling centers in your neighborhood.
