Storeperson Grade 2
REPORTS TO (Title):
Warehouse Manager
The Canterbury District Health Board is committed to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and
the overarching objectives of the New Zealand health and disability strategies.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Provision of a quality stores service to enable the Supply department of DHB to meet its
obligations in providing wards and departments the correct products within the required time frame.
LOCATION:
Christchurch
Will be able to work in other CDHB, supply & hospital locations when required
FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Internally:

KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Task
Physical Receipt of Incoming Goods
Measure  Physical examination of goods to ensure correct quality, quantity and type of items
received.
 Documenting goods received on delivery paperwork.
 Hazardous and toxic goods segregated on receipt and handled in accordance with
regulations.
 Operation of Oracle system to undertake enquiry functions and print
documentation.
Task
Provide High Quality Outwards Goods Service to all Customers
Measure  Identifying, selecting, packing and checking of goods to prepare orders to fulfil
customer requesitions.
 Duties performed in a friendly, courteous and efficient manner.
 Recognition of basic quality deviation and/or faults.
 Handling of fragile materials, hazardous and toxic goods in a safe and appropriate
manner.
Task
Stock Maintained at Optimal Level.
Measure  Monitoring of stock levels to ensure sufficient stock on hand.
 Advising Purchasing Officers of any stock shortages as required.
 Ensuring stock is rotated to minimise expiry and obsolescence.

Physical Movement of Goods
 Able to move stock by hand, trolley, pallet lifter or forklift.
 Hold a current license to operate a forklift.
 Operate and handle the forklift in a safe manner.
 Monitoring physical state of forklift to ensure it is maintained in a safe manner.
Work as a Member of a Team
 Ability to work under minimal supervision as part of the Stores team.
 Communicate with other Stores staff, Data Office, Purchasing and Procurement to
ensure interchange of information, thereby enabling effective operation of Supply
Department.
 Move between different stores, supply & hospital locations as required
Administration
 Performing basic administration tasks e.g. photocopying, record keeping.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Nil
HEALTH & SAFETY:
Implement or lead and implement emergency procedures and maintain a safe and secure work
environment by following relevant Canterbury DHB and Divisional policies, protocols and
standards. This includes but is not limited to:
 Practice safe work habits and ensure the health and safety of yourself and others
 Make unsafe work situations safe or, inform a supervisor or manager
 Is knowledgeable about hazards in the work area ant the procedures in place to identify and
control hazards
 Use Personal Protective Equipment correctly and when required
 Report hazards, incidents, accidents, and near misses promptly and accurately
 Seek advice from manager is unsure of work practices
 Complete mandatory training as required
 Is knowledgeable of emergency procedures and evacuation plans
 Assists in maintenance of equipment as required, and reports faulty equipment promptly
 Actively practice clinical standard precautions
QUALITY:
Every staff member within CDHB is responsible for ensuring a quality service is provided in their
area of expertise. All staff are to be involved in quality activities and should identify areas of
improvement. All staff are to be familiar with and apply the appropriate organisational and
divisional policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
 Operational experience as a storeperson
 Good verbal communication skills
 The ability to learn quickly
 The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
 Basic keyboard skills
