JUNIOR TENNIS TEAMS MARCH ON IN FYLDE LEAGUE
Last Saturday our Junior teams continued their successful start to the Fylde League season with
comprehensive 6-0 wins over obdurate opponents.
The U14 squad won all 6 rubbers in straight sets against visitors Lytham at our Club. Captain
Owen Cross played some clever shots to defeat his opponent and there were also good wins for
fellow LRGS pupil Filip Stuchik, and youngsters Jolyon Troughton and Sebstian Lujan, who are
both still at Primary School!
Both doubles matches were also won to clinch the whitewash. This was the third consecutive
win for the U14 squad and moved them up to 2nd in their league. Next up is a tough away
match at St Anne’s this coming weekend.
Later that afternoon, the U17 squad headed south to Wrea Green and earned their fourth 6-0
win on the trot as they continue to lead the league standings.
Peter Nickson and Elliot Gardner battled well to overcome tough opponents, while there were
easier wins for Dan Main and debutant Adam Hill in both singles and doubles matches. The U17
squad go from strength to strength and look to maintain their impressive start to the season
with a home match against St Anne’s on May 28th.
