Notice of Allowance
Claims 1, 3-13, and 15-20 are allowed based on current Examiner's Amendment. Prior art
has not been found that suggests or renders obvious the limitations of independent claims 1
and 13 disclosing receiving a call taxi service by a user terminal, comprising: receiving
service information related to the call taxi service based on Device to Device (020) direct
communication from two or more neighboring terminals adjacent to the user terminal;
transmitting a call taxi service request to the neighboring terminals; receiving a response to
the call taxi service request from the neighboring terminals; and establishing a session
connection with one of the neighboring terminals based on the response from the
neighboring terminals and then performing the call taxi service. The closest prior art, Ando et
al., US Patent Application Publication Number 2004/0076280 discloses a call taxi service but
uses a mediation system between the user and the group of taxis (neighboring terminals).
Thus, device to device direct communication is not used between the user and the terminals
to send requests and responses to the call taxi service.

#8818342 titled “Target service apparatus and method based on device to device direct
communication".
2. Understanding of the subject matter
The subject matter of first independent claim in general pertains to cab/taxi hiring and in
particular to a method of hiring a taxi by a user through a user terminal, wherein device to
device communication is used as a mean of communication between the user terminal and a
cab terminal.
Said method comprises the steps of: receiving service information related to the call taxi
service based on Device to Device (D2D) direct communication between neighboring
terminals (the “user terminal” and the “cab terminal”), which are located in proximity to each
other; transmitting a call taxi service request from the user terminal to the cab terminals;
receiving a response for the request, from the cab terminals to the user terminal; and
establishing a session connection with one of the cab terminal based on the response from
the cab terminals and performing the taxi service.
From our analysis of the disclosure, following key novel elements/steps were
identified:
1. A call taxi service based on Device to Device (D2D) direct communication from two or
more cab terminals in proximity to a user terminal.

Patent JP 2005,252,466 (Machine Translated)
A method of receiving a call [0001] The present invention relates to a system and
taxi service by a user apparatus for calling a taxi.
terminal,
the
method
comprising:
(a)
receiving
service
information related to the call
taxi service among services
based on Device to Device
(D2D) direct communication
from two or more neighboring
terminals adjacent to the user
terminal;
Abstract: The taxi calling system 10 includes a
communication function using an adhoc network 12
and is provided with: a taxi mounted apparatus 40
mounted on a taxi; and a mobile terminal 20 including
a communication function using the adhoc network 12
and forming the adhoc network 12 together with the taxi
mounted apparatus 40.
[0039] Hereinafter, it will be explained with reference to
the drawings taxi call system according to the
embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment,
an example using an ad hoc network as a relay function
wireless terminal among networks. Ad-hoc network is a
network composed of a terminal that can be
connected by wireless, which is a network with a
relay function in the form of a multi-hop
communication to connect a large number of
terminals to each other.
(b) transmitting a call taxi Abstract: A user terminal 10 transmits an allocation
service request to the request including position information acquired by a
neighboring terminals;
position information acquisition part 11 and destination
information to an allocation center 20.
[0054] Taxi mounting device 40a receives the call
request sent from the mobile terminal 20, and
transfers the call request received to other cab
mounting apparatus 40b (S20). Another cab mounting
device 40b having received the forwarded call request
also operates in the same manner as the taxi mounted
device 40a that has received the call request directly from
the mobile terminal 20.
(c) receiving a response to
the call taxi service request
from
the
neighboring
terminals; and
[0054] Taxi mounting device 40a receives the call
request sent from the mobile terminal 20, and transfers
the call request received to other cab mounting apparatus
40b (S20). Another cab mounting device 40b having
received the forwarded call request also operates in the
same manner as the taxi mounted device 40a that has
received the call request directly from the mobile terminal
20.
[0034] Taxi mounting device of the present invention,
there is provided a cab mounting apparatus for forming a
wireless terminal between the network with the relay
function with a portable terminal having a communication
function by the relay function wireless terminal among
networks, it is transmitted from the portable terminal, a
taxi and the call request transfer means for
transferring a call request for calling to other taxi
mounting apparatus as well as received through the
network between the relay function with wireless
terminal, when it receives a call request by the call
request transfer means,…
(d) establishing a session
connection with one of the
neighboring terminals based
on the response from the
neighboring terminals and
then performing the call taxi
service.
[0082] Taxi call system 10 of the second embodiment,
acceptable information and calls through an ad-hoc
network 12, which is temporarily formed by the
mobile terminal 20 of the customer and the taxi
mounting device 40 of the taxi while driving the
peripheral to send and receive the request, since the
call of taxi, does not require a server in between the
mobile terminal 20 and the taxi-equipped device 40.
[0007] With this configuration, since the transmitting
and receiving call requests and call responses with
the mobile station between networks with relay
function is temporarily formed by the user of the
portable terminal and the taxi mounted device
mounted with its peripheral taxi traveling , delay of
processing does not occur due to the concentration of the
load. In addition, small because the network and is
through the network between the relay function with
wireless terminal sends a call request, it is possible
to tell the call request to the taxi mounting apparatus
automatically small in the network even without
special treatment, it is possible to call a nearby taxi.
7. Conclusion
Comprehensive prior art search for the subject matter as claimed in independent claim 1 of
target patent has resulted in identification of above discussed results.
Result 1, as cited in Section 6, discloses a method for decentralized transportation
dispatching, where transportation requirement is broadcasted directly (can be said “Device to
Device” communication) by a user, and reply to the transportation requirement from plurality
of transportation providers who are capable of providing a passenger-carrying service or
providing a goods-carrying service.
Result 2, as cited in Section 6, discloses a taxi calling system that includes a communication
function using an adhoc network. A taxi mounted apparatus and a mobile terminal including a
communication function using the adhoc network is used for communication between mobile
terminal and taxi mounted apparatus.
Conclusion: Both prior art results disclose “Device to Device” direct communication
between a user terminal and a taxi terminal. Result 1, exclusively talking about direct
broadcast of service request from a user to a taxi service provider.
Hence, validity of the US patent # 8818342 may be under question based on the
identified prior arts.
