SCHOOL DISTRICT No. 38 (RICHMOND) October 2, 2015 Brighouse School News “Where Everyone Counts” Mr. K. Elcombe Principal 6800 Azure Road Richmond, BC V7C 2S8 Mr. E. Adjei-Achampong Jr. Vice-Principal Phone: 604-668-6522 Fax: 604-668-6418 Website: http://brighouse.sd38.bc.ca Parking, Drop-off and School Access Whenever possible, we ask that you and your children walk to school. It is a healthier and greener alternative to driving. When that is not possible, parents are now able to drop off their children in our new Drop-Off Circle, which is entered just north of the staff parking entrance, off Azure Road. Please do not use the staff parking lot at any time. Once the building opens at 8:30 am each day, students may enter the school through our new main entrance at the east end of the school, or through the north doors adjacent to the elevator. Change in Weather In an effort to keep the number of illnesses down at school, we thank you in advance for keeping your child at home if they are showing symptoms of a cold or flu. As the cooler months approach, we would like to remind parents to make sure your child(ren) are dressed for the weather. When the weather permits, we believe in 'outside days' where students are to be outside during recess and lunch breaks. This is a great way for students to get fresh air, exercise and socialize with their friends. In some schools student populations are so small that the School District cannot offer the optimal range of programs. Trustees need to make a decision on which schools to close to ensure facilities are used in an effective and fiscally responsible way. Trustees want to hear from you as they gather information to inform their decisions and make their way through this process. Please visit http://letstalksd38.ca and register on the site to provide your input and receive regular updates. B Survey: Getting Your Child to School Currently there is a live survey on the website titled “Getting Your Child to School” and we are looking for input from all members of the community before October 9, 2015. Let’s Talk SD38: Getting Your Child to School Please provide your feedback on the new Let's Talk SD38 Survey: Getting Your Child to School. As Trustees move forward with the Long Range Facilities Plan, understanding how your child gets to and from school and how long this journey takes is important information for them to have. The information collected from this survey will assist trustees in making informed decisions about schools. The survey is very brief and will only take about 2 minutes to complete. The survey will close on October 9, 2015 at 5pm. Please visit to begin the survey: http://bit.ly/1Qfiip7 C Open Houses Open House Dates Announced Richmond parents, community members and school district employees were asked how they would like to be engaged in discussions about schools and how they would like to receive information about the engagement process.
