Began creating and practicing jump rope routines individually, with partner, or small group.
Mandatory for 4th/5th and also evaluated. Performed routines in PE class during Jump Rope for
Heart Week!
Jump Rope for Heart was in February. As of this writing, I do not have a final
amount to report. Many students made this their “Random Act of Kindness” for the
month to help others with heart disease. The student who raises the most money in each
class will get to be “PE Teacher of the Day” for one class in March. Thanks for your
support of the American Heart Association!!
What is happening in P.E. this month?

Did you know? Many people remember Dodgeball when they think of P.E. It is a good
memory for some and an awful memory for many. Parkside does not play Dodgeball in P.E. class.
Why? Dodgeball often is only a fun game for those who are highly skilled, and not fun at all for others
who are the targets. It is not a game that promotes the best in cooperation, teamwork, and confidence
in physical skills. It is an elimination game that leaves many or most of a class standing and watchingnot moving!! For more information about Dodgeball from the National Association of Sport and
Physical Education (NASPE) visit: http://www.aahperd.org/naspe/standards/peps.cfm
**Look for this flier in your Monday folders the first week of each month**
