Specific Qualifications:
1. Person should be sympathetic with the YWCA and its purpose and imperative.
2. Knowledge of assessment tools and ability to interpret test results.
3. Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, both
verbally and in writing.
4. Previous experience as group facilitator.
5. Ability to relate to people of all ages and various cultural backgrounds.
Education & Technical Skills:
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related human service field with minimum one
year experience in Domestic Violence work. Experience may be waived with completion of a
certified program of facilitator training.
Function:
Facilitate weekly Batterers Treatment groups. This position maintains group oversight, and in
conjunction with the co-facilitator, provides psychosocial educational training and therapeutic
intervention, to assist clients to better understand the attitudes, beliefs, and choices that have
led to abusive and violent behaviors against others. Also, provides individual psychotherapy to
clients as needed and holds primary responsibility for clinical management of group and client
issues.

Provide primary co-leadership of weekly ATV treatment groups.
Coordinate referrals and follow-up data with Program Advocate.
Interview prospective clients, and initiate appropriate referrals (substance abuse, sexual
abuse, mental health, etc.)
Review MCMI Inventory and other prescreening assessment data, including victim
report, and complete lethality assessment.
Establish, maintain, and review permanent client files and documents including interview
applications, assessments, court data, referrals, and weekly records.
Inform Program Director promptly of any incidents of abusive or violent behavior, or
other client/group concerns.
Provide individual psychotherapeutic treatment and/or group clinical guidance, support,
and follow-up as needed.
Establish and maintain periodic contact with probation officers or other referral agents as
needed.
Provide outreach support, resource liaison, and referral to community agencies as
needed. Complete and maintain file of weekly group interaction/assessment forms.
Complete the BTA (Batterer Tracking Assessment) as per program protocol.
Provide instruction and supervision to ATV facilitator-in-training, interns, and
paraprofessionals.
Attend and participate in weekly peer supervision/case presentations/support meetings.
Participate in ongoing program development as needed.
Maintain ongoing client progress evaluation and case management and document as
needed.
Research and preview current Domestic Violence literature.
Attend DV training seminars as required in order to maintain clinical licensures and/or
certification.

Valid Hawaii driver’s license, vehicle, and proof of insurance.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Willing and able to travel around the island for meetings.
Willing and able to travel off-island for training and meetings as occasionally needed.
