PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. This May, Plattsburgh Little League (http://leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=pll) will kick off its 60th year.
Little League Vice President Zeke Perras says, he hopes the kids can play ball in style.
"Our vision is to make it more of a baseball complex for the kids, rather than just a baseball field," said Perras.
This would include adding batting cages, a concession stand, upgraded backstops, and more.
Perras hopes to secure a majority of the funding through the MLB Tomorrow Fund. He's also applied for a grant with Little League International.
The league has been named finalists for both grants, which could mean up to $85,000 in funding.
"For the project we're really trying to do is the lighting to the field. The cost of lighting is about $125,000," said Perras.
Perras says the lights would literally be a game changer for the league.
"Inclement weather can really play a really huge role in having to reschedule games, and you know, being able to start a game at 7:00 at night, as opposed to have to stop all
play by 7:30, 8:00 would really make a big difference," said Perras.
So far, Perras says the league has been able to raise a little over $13,000 from sponsorships and GoFundMe donations.
(/)"In the history of Plattsburgh Little League, there's never been a night game underneath the lights," said Perras.

His son, Alix Perras, hopes that can change while he's still in the league. "

You would just get to stand under the lights and see everything that you can," said Alix Perras.
"It would just be that really great baseball atmosphere to be able to play a game in June you know, as the sun's going down and the lights come on to really give them a true
baseball experience," said Perras.
Plattsburgh Little League will find out if it will get grant funding by the end of the month; Opening Day is May 6th.
If that happens, new lights could be up as soon as the league's playoff season in June.
