STAR-GAZING CONTEST
OFFICIAL RULES—CORPORATE
PARTICIPATION: Participation in this contest is open to all Employees of Genworth Financial and is
voluntary. Employees are not required to participate. To be eligible for contest awards, participants must be
employed by Genworth Financial and in good standing at the time of payment of the award, and be in
compliance with all company policies, and federal and state rules and regulations. Additionally, participants
must have succeeded in giving/raising, submitting and having recorded at least $500 in support of the
Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk during 2010.
All Federal, state and local taxes associated with the receipt of a prize in the amount of $25.00 or more are
the sole responsibility of the winner. The winner must be available and legally able to travel to or within the
United States March 15-17, 2011.
CONTEST TIMEFRAME:
Ends December 31, 2010
SELECTION OF WINNERS:
Two (2) winners will be selected.
The first winner is that Employee working in the below identified corporate offices who raises the most
money in support of the 2010 Memory Walk during calendar year 2010 (as determined after a January
2011 reconciliation of the records of the Alzheimer’s Association). In the event of a tie, the Employee
who received the greatest number of contributions will be declared the winner. This winner must have
raised at least $2,000.
Eligible offices include:
Brentwood, TN
Chicago, IL (incl. Schaumburg)
Los Angeles, CA (Encino)
Lynchburg, VA
New York City, NY
Phoenix, AZ
Pleasant Hill, CA
Rancho Cordova, CA
Raleigh, NC
Richmond, VA
San Rafael, CA
Seattle, WA
Stamford, CT
Wellesley, MA
Remote employees are eligible, too
The second winner will be selected randomly from a list of 2010 Memory Walk participants throughout
Genworth Financial (all locations, all U.S. Employees, Agents, and Wholesalers), created by including a
participant’s name one (1) time for each $500 he/she raised. NOTE: There is no guarantee this
“random” winner will be an Employee from a corporate site.
In determining the amount raised, Employees’ personal contributions will count; however, contributions made
by Genworth in any form will not. Additionally, all contributions must have been paid to and received by the
Alzheimer’s Association; pledges will not count. Unless additional documentation is provided, the
Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk system—Kintera—will serve as the source for determining the total
amount raised by each Employee. Only those funds specifically attached to the employee’s name will be
considered (e.g., if the Employee is a Team Captain, funds raised by/through other members of the Team do
not accrue to the Employee).
NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS: The prize winner(s) will be notified on or about January 31, 2011 via phone
or e-mail. Each winner's name will be posted on Genworth’s Intranet systems page and be communicated
company-wide by other communication vehicles as well. Prize winners will be asked to complete, sign and
return an affidavit of eligibility/liability release. Failure to return the signed affidavit of eligibility/liability
release, or otherwise accept the prize, may result in forfeiture of the prize and an alternate winner may
thereafter be selected.
PRIZE (2): A three (3) day/two (2) night trip for each Winner and their Guest to Los Angeles, CA. The trip
dates will be March 15 through March 17, 2011. The trip includes the following:
Round-trip coach airfare for Winner and Guest, to be chosen by Genworth Financial on a major
airline from a major airport nearest the Winner's home, traveling to Los Angeles, CA. [In the event
that the winning contestant resides within 100 (one-hundred) miles of the Los Angeles airport,
roundtrip ground transportation to and from winning contestant's home to designated hotel will be
provided as a substitute for air travel];
Standard, double-occupancy hotel accommodations to be shared by Winner and Guest for two
(2) nights at a hotel in Los Angeles, CA to be chosen by Genworth Financial;
Winner and Guest’s attendance at the Alzheimer’s Association Gala Fundraiser in Los Angeles on
March 16, 2011;
Ground transportation, major meals, and expenses during stay, up to a limit of $400.
Prizes are non-transferable, with no cash redemptions or substitutions. No change in the dates of the award trip
is permitted. Any portion of a prize not accepted by a winner will be forfeited.
The Approximate Retail Value ("ARV") of the prize is $2,250, but may vary depending upon the cost of
airfare. Each contest winner is responsible for the reporting and payment of all federal, state and local taxes
(if any). Each contest winner will be issued an appropriate tax form for the ARV of the prize. The contest
winner is responsible for all additional tax liabilities and expenses not expressly provided for above, including
other meals, incidentals, tips, telephone calls, ground transportation, and other personal expenses or hotel
charges incurred during the trip.
GENERAL CONDITIONS: Acceptance of prize constitutes express permission for Genworth Financial to use
Winner’s name and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and promotion (if any) without further compensation,
except in Tennessee or where prohibited by law. Genworth Financial is not responsible for events beyond
Genworth Financial's reasonable control that jeopardize the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper
conduct of the promotion. Genworth Financial reserves the right to suspend or terminate the contest in the
event the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the contest is jeopardized.
