Governors Club hosts U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifier on June 12, 2017
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - June 5, 2017 – The Carolinas Golf Association (C.G.A.) in conjunction
with the United States Golf Association (U.S.G.A.) selected Governors Club in Chapel Hill to
host the U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifier on Monday, June 12, 2017. Two players (and
two alternates) will advance to the U.S. Women’s Open tournament to be held at Trump
National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey from July 13-16. Fifty-five (55) Qualifier
participants, female professionals and amateurs with a Handicap Index® not exceeding 2.4, will
play from 6,508 yards on the Jack Nicklaus Signature course at Governors Club.
“With only two spots in the Qualifier at stake to advance, a true tournament atmosphere will be
evident as players will not have the option to play conservatively. To punch their ticket to the
U.S. Women’s Open, players will have to attack our Jack Nicklaus course,” said Thomas
Brinson, Director of Golf.
Competitors in the Sectional Qualifier at Governors Club hail from 14 states, including 25
players from North Carolina, and players traveling from 5 countries. The first tee time begins at
7:30 am and the last tee time at 1:51 pm.
Governors Club Assistant Golf Professional Sarah Bejgrowicz, a 2011 graduate of Campbell
University, is one of the 55 competitors in the Qualifier, “The opportunity to play in the U.S.
Women’s Open Qualifier once again at my home course to vie for a chance to play in the
Women’s Open is exhilarating,” said Bejgrowicz.
