Symphony League Continues Tradition of Adorning Stark
County Homes With Wreaths
CANTON, Ohio (November 7, 2013) — There isn’t always ritual in life anymore, but for the members
of the Symphony League of Canton, there’s nothing better than combining their organization’s
tradition with the tradition of the holiday season.
The Symphony League of Canton was organized in 1963 to provide support for the Canton Symphony
Orchestra. For more than 25 years, the Symphony League of Canton has offered holiday wreaths for
sale as a fundraising effort. Proceeds from the sale of the beautiful wreaths and the hand-crafted bows
are used to help support the educational outreach programs of the Canton Symphony, such as the
Youth Symphony, Symphonyland and Kinder Concerts, among others.
Donna Leibensperger has chaired the effort since 1994. She notes, “Every year I receive comments
from new recipients of the wreaths wondering where they can get more of these for their friends and
family. They are excited to receive them because they are so unique. Their pine scent combined with
their beauty make this a really easy gift choice.”
The long-lasting, large, beautiful wreaths are made in Oregon of Noble Fir with gold cedar, berried
juniper and large pine cones. Wreaths are available with or without the hand-crafted bows. Each wreath
costs $33 and the bows, either red or burgundy, are $4 each.
All orders are prepaid. Credit card orders can be placed by phone at 330-452-3434, ext. 605 or checks
made out to the Symphony League of Canton can be mailed to Canton Symphony Orchestra, 1001 Market
Avenue North, Canton, OH 44702. The deadline for orders is Friday, November 16.
Wreaths will be ready for pick-up on Saturday, November 30 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Canton
Museum of Art loading dock entrance facing Cleveland Avenue. All those who ordered wreaths will
receive a reminder postcard of the wreath pick-up date.
Founded in 1937, the Canton Symphony Orchestra is a fully professional ensemble and organization
dedicated to performing concerts that enrich, educate and entertain. Under the direction of Gerhardt
Zimmermann, the orchestra performs classical, pops, holiday, and educational programs. Most
performances are in Umstattd Performing Arts Hall, 2323 17th Street NW, Canton, Ohio (at McKinley
High School across from C.T. Branin Natatorium). Parking at McKinley High School is free. For more
