Dear Colleague,
GCE/GCSE Results – Summer 2017
You will be aware that this summer’s GCE and GCSE results will be released to
schools electronically on the 17th and 24th August 2017 respectively.
Local Authorities do not receive or have direct access to these results until they have
been collated and provided through the National Consortium for Examination Results
in late September.
As agreed with the West Sussex Secondary Headteachers’ Executive I am writing to
seek your co-operation in supplying your school’s summary data as early as possible
on the day of release (GCE on 17th August and GCSE on 24th August). It will enable us
to respond to general enquiries about West Sussex as a whole.
Although the data is embargoed until the respective release days it may be beneficial
to produce the return, where possible, on the previous day. Submission can then be
made early on (not before) release day.
We will not release or make comment about individual school results.
The information required is in respect of students at the end of KS4, including those
who are in receipt of Pupil Premium (FSMever6 and CLA):


Number of year 11 pupils (from January census)
Number achieving 4 or higher in either English (Language or Literature) and
maths (BASICS)
H3091




Number achieving 5 or higher in both English (Language or Literature) and
maths (BASICS)
Average Attainment 8 score per pupil
Number entered for EBACC
Number achieving EBACC at 4 or C
For schools with sixth forms, we shall again this year be seeking to collect information
relating to AS and A2 results separately and also information on BTEC/OCR National
results. The information required is:



Total number of A2 passes achieved at each grade, including the number of
ungraded results and the total entry
Total number of BTEC passes at each grade for National Diploma, Certificate
and Award, including the number of ungraded results and the total entry.
All the information required can be obtained easily from your school’s “SIMS
Examination Organiser Module”. Guidance is available to schools in the
Documentation Centre of SIMS.net. A note on where and how to submit the results is
set out at the end of this letter.
Contact Details
Please complete the pro forma (Appendix C) at the end of this letter to indicate
whether your school will be in a position to provide the information requested and
return it as soon as possible by email to [email protected].
Where and how to submit the results
On each day the completed form needs to be emailed to [email protected] as
early as possible.
NB: Schools with both GCE and GCSE examination results will need to follow this
procedure on both the 17th and 24th August 2017.
Forms for completion on each of the days are attached to this letter.
