Nicole Conroy
PER Author
Prior to commencing work at AECOM Nicole was responsible for the development, management and delivery of a three year project
in fire management for asset protection and biodiversity conservation. The Hotspots Fire project was based in NSW and involved
project partners from government, non-government and industry. Over the three years of the project Nicole gained significant
experience in project management, fire ecology and best practice community engagement; and demonstrated excellent problem
solving and innovation skills. She also ably promoted the project at the highest levels, including conference presentations and
publications in relevant journals & newsletters.
Nicole has worked as a lecturer in natural and cultural resource management in the Northern Territory, and as regional manager for
the Greening Australia team in Alice springs. During this time she gained significant experience working in remote Aboriginal
communities on community land management projects (including fire/weeds/pest species) as part of an Indigenous ranger training
program. As a lecturer Nicole developed course material and taught in areas as diverse as tourism, environmental economics, soil
science, catchment management, and chainsaw use.
Nicole has also had solid training and experience as a botanist, including flora survey and assessment work in the Northern
Territory; and flora survey and rehabilitation in Queensland and Victoria.
Since joining AECOM Nicole has managed projects that include addressing key knowledge gaps in the ecological character
description of the Cobourg Peninsula Ramsar Wetland site, delivering a Heritage and Environment Management Plan for the Mt
Bundy Defence Training Area, and providing ongoing environment and heritage advice to Territory Alliance, one of the two alliances
selected to deliver the Strategic Housing and Infrastructure Program (SIHIP) in communities across the Northern Territory.
