West Drayton station (First Great Western) is the nearest mainline station
(approx 1.5 miles from the campus) with services from London Paddington or the
West (Bristol, Reading). From West Drayton station take a bus towards Uxbridge:
U5 (alight Station Road), 222 (alight Cowley Road), U3 (alight Cleveland Road by
the pond) or U1 (alight Kingston Lane).
West Ruislip station (Chiltern Railways) is approx 4 miles from the campus with
services from London Marylebone and the Midlands (Aylesbury, Banbury and
Birmingham). From West Ruislip station take the U1 bus towards West Drayton
station and alight at Kingston Lane. Journey time is approx 20 minutes off-peak
and 30 minutes peak time.
V
By Car
Parking on the University’s campus and in the local area is very restricted. We are
committed to reducing our carbon emissions, so we encourage students and staff
to use alternative travel options where possible. Barriers control access to the
site and all vehicles must display a valid permit. Entry is via Kingston Lane only.
Please don’t use UB8 3PH in any satnav devices as these service providers have
not yet adjusted their directions to the new vehicle entrance in Kingston Lane.
Eligible students must apply for an annual vehicle permit via eVision. Students
should visit http://intranet.brunel.ac.uk/studentcentre for relevant information.

By Train
We are confident that in pursuing
our Travel Plan objectives, we will
ensure that Brunel University
remains an attractive and pleasant
place to study and work both for
our students and staff.
The Brunel campus is on a signposted cycle route, which passes through the
middle of the campus and along Cleveland Road. You can pick up a free Local
Cycling Guide (number 6 illustrates Brunel University) at Main Reception.
To see all the cycle routes in the vicinity of our campus please see the marked
routes overleaf.
Cycle storage facilities are located around the campus, and some halls of
residence have enclosed cycle storage areas. There are approximately 36 cycle
storage facilities on campus which can collectively accommodate roughly 520
bikes. Showers with changing facilities are available in the Sports Centre for use
by student and staff cyclists. Please note that ID cards will be checked before
access is granted. There are also several cycle lockers dotted around the campus.
Students can book these lockers via the Students’ Union and staff via Security.
Visit www.tfl.gov.uk for service updates and live travel news.
Brunel is committed to maintaining
sustainability with regards to the
travel it generates. As part of this
commitment we have implemented a
Travel Plan; one of the key aims is
to endeavour to provide an enabling
environment allowing students and
staff to travel by alternative means
of transport with less dependency
on the car and therefore reducing
our carbon footprint.
Useful Information for
Staff and Students
There are a number of excellent bus services around Brunel University. You can
catch U1, U2, U3, U4, U5 and U7 to Uxbridge tube station, providing easy access
to Piccadilly and Metropolitan line underground services and Uxbridge town
centre. In the opposite direction we have routes U1, U3, U5 and 222 which serve
the mainline train station in West Drayton, which provides easy access to
Paddington station in just 20 minutes. Bus service A10 runs between Uxbridge
and Heathrow Airport with the journey taking approximately 20 minutes. There is
also N207 which is the night service running to Uxbridge. Please refer to the map

B
The Uxbridge area has excellent transport links. Brunel University is close to
Heathrow Airport, is served by underground and rail links, and has excellent
local bus services. The University campus has secure cycle storage facilities
and is approximately a 20 minute walk from Uxbridge town centre.
By Foot
The University campus is a pleasant 15-20 minute walk from Uxbridge town
centre. From Uxbridge tube station, skirt around the Old Market past HSBC Bank
into Windsor Street. At the bottom of Windsor Street, turn left and cross the
dual carriageway via the light-controlled crossing. Bear left and then walk
straight on, avoiding the subway, into Whitehall Road. Walk along Whitehall
Road and over the crossroads into Cleveland Road. Many areas on campus are
connected to the central concourse which runs right through the University.
The footpaths are generally well lit and are mostly overlooked by CCTV. Staff
and students are advised to refer to gate signage for opening and closing times
at entrance and exit points around campus.
Please remember to stay safe whilst walking and travel in a group when
appropriate. The journey planner www.walkit.com can help identify walking
routes between locations and also includes an option to use routes away
from busy roads. Walk Finder is another useful site where you can choose a
route and also find out what is going on in that area
www.walklondon.org.uk/walk_finder.asp
Why walk?
• You can burn up to 60 calories if you walk from
Uxbridge station to Brunel University.
