REMAS Supervisor Authorisation User Guide
1. Before a student can submit an application for review they must first obtain your esignature as their named Supervisor for the research project. In order for a student to
request your authorisation you must first create a user account by logging into REMAS at
the below web address. The action of logging into REMAS for the first time will
automatically create an account without any further action needed.
Please note: when logging into REMAS you should use your 8 digit staff number as your
username (e.g K0123456 or abcd1234) and your normal KCL account password.

2. If a student has requested that you authorise their application you will receive an email
notification asking you to log into REMAS to review the application. Alternatively you can
log in to REMAS at any time to check if you have any pending signature requests.
3. When you select the signature panel shown above you will be given the option to view the
application form related to the signature request via a ‘View Form’ action. Once you have
opened a project and moved to the navigation page the following options will be available:
4. When reviewing an application section by section, if you would like to provide feedback on a
particular section you can do so by selecting the yellow post-it note in the top right hand
corner of the relevant section (see below). When you ‘reject’ the application the applicant
can then view an amalgamation of these comments and make changes to the relevant
sections of their application as per your advice. Once they have completed the changes the
applicant can then request your authorisation once more for the updated form.
5. If you have reviewed the application and no changes are required before it can be submitted
for review you should proceed to sign the form.
IMPORTANT: To sign an application form you must use your full KCL email address as
your username rather than the 8 digit number you used for your initial login e.g
[email protected]. You should then use your normal KCL account password (see
below).
6. Once you have signed an application form as the project supervisor, the form will then be
automatically submitted for review, provided that the student has not disabled automatic
submissions. As the application will then be submitted to the Research Ethics Office for
validation, if the student needs to make further changes to their application before
submission please select the ‘reject’ tile.
Important things to note:
a) Any signature request made by a student before your account has been created will be
discounted by REMAS, meaning a further signature request will need to be made once you
have created an account.
b) To request a Supervisor’s signature an applicant does not need to ‘Transfer’ or ‘Share’ their
application. These functions are for the following purpose:
a. Share: this action will share a project with another user so that the other user can
then access the project and assist with the completion of the application. If a student
shares their application with you then they will still remain responsible for the
application and it submission and you will still be able to sign the form as their
named Supervisor.
b. Transfer: this action will completely transfer the project to another REMAS user
account. The application will then remain in the new users account, making the new
user responsible for the application project and its submission.
c) If you have signed an application for the applicant will not be able to make any further
changes to the application prior to submission. If changes or needed before submission you
should provide the relevant feedback and ‘reject’ the application.
