Defining “Credit”
A-G Credit
Years completed (grade of C or better) – demonstrated by A-G coursework
OR SAT/AP/IB Exams
CDE Credit
Years completed (grade of D or better) – demonstrated by credit earned at a
high school. District (LEA) is responsible for defining meeting the CDE
requirements.
Numerical Credit
The District (LEA) establishes the number of credits earned per course passed.
In LAUSD, 5 credits are earned for each semester course (grade of D or better).
Credits are based on Carnegie units – in general, 60 hours is equivalent to 5
credits.
