Questionnaire #3
You have been playing a trust game. There is another game in which you and a teammate play
against other teams.
In each round of this game, your team is randomly matched with another team. The round has
only one part. Coin flips are used to determine which teammate will play that round for their
team. That teammate is given $1 which he/she can either add directly to the team take-home or
invest in the other team. Any invested money is tripled and added to the take-home of the other
team. The other team does not have any opportunity to give money back in that round (although
it is possible to be randomly matched with that team in a future round).
If neither team invests, then each gains $1.
If both teams invest, then each gains $3.
If only one team invests, then that team gains $0 while the other team gains $4.
At the end of this game, you and your teammate split the team take-home equally, so whenever
you lose money, your teammate loses the same amount of money, and whenever your teammate
loses money, you lose the same amount.
When this game is actually played, none of the players know who the other players are, but
imagine you could pick your teammate. For the faces shown on each of the following pages,
indicate whether you would pick that person to be your teammate.
