2017 MLLA All-Star Information
At the conclusion of the regular baseball season, Mechanicsburg Little League Association fields “All-Star” teams which participate in
both Little League affiliated tournaments and local area tournaments. All-Star teams are divided by an age range and are chosen
based on each player’s performance during the regular season. Team selection is determined by regular season coach evaluation of
the players, observation and evaluation by league officials. Participation on an All-Star team is a privilege and a responsibility. Both
All-Star players and parents represent MLLA in the community and are expected to conduct themselves with the utmost respect.
Both players and parents are also expected to make a firm commitment to the time and effort required to participate on an All-Star
team. Player attendance at all practices and participation in all games are expected. Parents are expected to assist in an increased
volunteer capacity as needed. All-Star families will be expected to contribute at least $25 toward the cost of All-Star uniforms.
Each year the number of All-Star teams varies based on the number of eligible and/or available players at each age level.
The Board has decided for the upcoming all star tournament season to field teams at the following levels:
8U All-Stars – Team selection is made at the end of the Minors’ and Instructional division seasons and may be comprised of players
who are 7 and 8 years old. Practice begins immediately following the end of the Minors tournament. Potential local tournaments are
the Upper Allen Tournament beginning in mid June and the 8U Little League District Tournament beginning late June and runs into
mid-July.
10U All-Stars – Team selection is made at the end of the Minors/Majors regular season and may be comprised of players who are 9
and 10 years old. Practices will begin immediately upon announcement of the team. Local tournaments may include the Upper Allen
Tournament beginning June 10th, Hershey Tournament June 23-25. There is also Little League affiliated all-star play at this level
which can proceed through the regional level. This level of play has the potential to continue through late July though length of play
is determined by team performance.
11U All-Stars - Team selection announcement is governed by Little League International and is set for June 1st. Practices will begin
immediately upon announcement of the team. There are local tournaments this team may enter as early as June 10th. There is a
Little League affiliated all-star play at this level which can proceed through the state level beginning around the end of June/early
July. This level of play has the potential to continue through late July, although length of play is determined by team performance.
12U All-Stars - Team selection announcement is governed by Little League International and is set for June 1st. Practices will begin
immediately upon announcement of the team. This level of play may participate in a local tournament starting as early as June 17th.
This team will also participate in the Little League affiliated tournament known as the “Road to Williamsport” which ultimately
culminates in the Little League World Series. This level of play has the potential to continue through August, though length of play is
determined by team performance.
What do you need to do to express interest?
First, you need to go through the free registration process on the MLLA website (www.mburgbaseball.com) or
http://mechanicsburg-little-league-association.siplay.com/. This is your way of expressing interest in participating on an All Star
team and that you can commit to the date ranges defined above. It is very important that your player is available for the duration of
the All Star season. If your player in interested in participating but, there are dates you know they will not be available please
indicate that in the comment section of the registration process. The registration process will be open until Sunday, May 21 st so it’s
very important to take action as soon as possible.
