RapidFlo™ Plunger and CEO™ III
Controller Combination Prove to Be
Economical Alternative to Pumping
Unit or Gas Lift Installation
Objectives
• Increase gas production from its 100 MCFD level.
• Stabilize fluid production fluctuating between 0 and 30 BPD.
• Reduce casing pressure.
• Choose the most cost-effective solution: plunger lift,
pumping unit, or gas lift.
Results
• The well would have been a good candidate for conventional
plunger lifting except for the fact that it would produce more
efficiently in a continual flow state. The cycling of the plunger
would have resulted in no production increase, as it would
have required buildup of casing fluid pressure to move fluid.
The Weatherford RapidFlo plunger, teamed with the CEO III
controller, was the answer. The CEO III controller continually
optimizes plunger lift operation based on well pressures and
flow rates. Gas production was maximized by minimizing
casing production and therefore decreasing flowing
bottomhole pressure.

• Gas production more than doubled to 225 MCFD.

7,500 ft
• Liquid production leveled out at 15 BPD.

Value to Client
• Weatherford provided a complete artificial lift solution that
was far more economical than a pumping unit or gas lift
installation, either of which could have cost as much as
$50,000, including workover costs. The RapidFlo plunger
installation was $6,000.
