Safety Guidelines and Suggested Route from Expo/Bundy Station to
Wildwood School
Taking public transportation to and from Wildwood School is a great way to ease traffic congestion in
our upper school neighborhood. The Metro Expo line, opened in 2016, offers a convenient stop near
Olympic Blvd. and Bundy Drive called the “Expo/Bundy Station.” The station’s address is:
Expo/Bundy
12201 Exposition Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90064
Taking public transportation and walking to and from school does pose a series of potential dangers
that students and parents should be aware of. As of the 2016-17 school year, Wildwood is not able to
provide a crossing guard between the Expo/Bundy Station and Wildwood School. However, it is our
suggestion to follow the direct route explained below.
Route from Expo/Bundy Station to Wildwood School (see page 2 for map of suggested route):
1. Exit the Bundy Station on the east side of Bundy Drive.
2. Walk north on Bundy Drive to Olympic Blvd. Note: There are multiple driveways between the
station and Olympic Blvd. and drivers frequently use these to bypass traffic signal. You must be
cautious on this stretch of sidewalk and always look for cars.
3. Cross Olympic Blvd., heading north, and turn right on Mississippi Ave. past the gas station.
4. Take the sidewalk along Mississippi Ave. to Wildwood School, again paying careful attention to
the numerous driveways between Bundy Drive and the entrance to the school.
To help students be safe pedestrians, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Authority has many
resources on their website (www.metro.net). The site also suggests the following when talking to
children about safe pedestrian behavior:


Obey all traffic signs and signals.
Choose routes that provide space to walk and have the least amount of traffic and lowest
speeds.
Look for traffic at all driveways and intersections.
If possible, cross at a crosswalk or at an intersection with a walk signal.
Stop at the curb and look for traffic in all directions (left, right, left, to the front, and behind). At
an intersection, it is important to look in front and in back to check for turning vehicles. The
second look to the left is to re-check for traffic that is closest to you.
Wait until no traffic is coming and start crossing; keep looking for traffic as you cross the road.
Walk across the road. Do not run.
Wear reflective gear if it is dark or conditions limit visibility, such as rain.
Talk with your child about what you’re doing and why as you walk.
If you have any questions, please call the middle and upper school front desk at (310) 478-7189.
