Year 6 High School Experience Day - UC High School Kaleen
Dear parents and carers of Year 6 students
With the final year at primary school we begin to look at establishing a smooth transition for
students into Year 7. While this move can be an easy one for some, it can be met with
uncertainty by others.
To support this transition, Giralang Primary School has been invited to attend a High School
Experience Day at University of Canberra High School Kaleen, Baldwin Drive Kaleen.
Although some students will look to attend other schools, this visit will be a beneficial
experience for all students.
In case of inclement weather, parents and carers are asked to drop off students to the high
school in the morning. If there is the possibility of bad weather, we will contact parents and
carers the day before to inform them of the alternate arrangements.
Where:
University of Canberra High School Kaleen
Purpose:
To support transition by showcasing the University of Canberra High School
Kaleen and the programs that they have.

Requirements:
All students attending the excursion must wear full school uniform.
Please remember to bring hats and drink bottles.
There will be a sausage sizzle lunch provided on the day and the canteen will
be open. Students may also bring their own recess and lunch.

9:00am – 3:00pm

Meeting
9am departure from school to walk to UCHSK in order to arrive at 9:30am.
time/place/teacher 2.30pm departure from UCHSK in order to arrive back at school by 3.00pm.

Staff accompanying students on excursions will take all reasonable care while the students are in
their charge to protect them from injury and to control and supervise their behaviour and activities.
Parents should be aware that staff members are not responsible for injuries or damage to property
which may occur on an excursion where, in all circumstances, staff have not been negligent. Parents
should warn children of the risk to themselves, to others and to property, of impulsive, wilful or
disobedient behaviour.
