QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Every accomplishment
starts with the decision to try.”
Coaches Column
Wow what a great week! We are just heading into week number 8 of
our season and I could not be more ecstatic with how the team has been
performing.
This past week we decided to work on fine-tuning everyone’s
breastroke and freestyle techniques, as well as working on a test set that
involved fast 100’s. It was a fantastic week with lots of improvements that
were seen this past weekend. This upcoming week will be dedicated to
butterfly and turns!
This past weekend at Creston was amazing! Both Laura and I were
stunned at how well everyone raced. Each and every single swimmer should
be proud of their performances. We had tons of best times, as well as some
new meet records that were set. Not only did we have podium finishes in
almost every single division, but also Castlegar took another winning title at
the meet. Great job everybody!
Huge congratulations to all of the Aquanauts who had the
opportunity to race in the Eliminator. The Eliminator is a fun “end of the meet”
race that Creston holds every single year. The top 5 50 freestyle swimmers
from divisions 1-3 and 4-8 race each other by swimming 50’s of freestyle and
then are eliminated one by one by what they place in each 50. Ethan
Lawczynski, Claire Cartwright, Emma Lawczynski and Jeffrey Ashton
eliminated all of the other competitors and achieved a clean sweep of the
event for the Aquanauts.

REMINDERS
1. The coaches have decided that swimmers will NOT be allowed to participate in
dryland if they are not wearing proper running footwear. This is to ensure the
safety of that swimmer, as well as the other swimmers.
2. Just a reminder that the swim schedule will change starting July 2nd. Please take a
look on the last page where the new schedule will be attached.

Coaches Corner
Coach Laura
We are going on week 8 of training and it has been another awesome week for the
Aquanauts! Great job to everyone who attended the Creston Invitational swim
meet this weekend. With lots of swimmers medalling and a clean sweep in the 50m
free eliminator Castlegar came in first with a total of 591 points!! It was so nice to
see everyone do so well, Michaella and I are feeling very proud to be your
coaches. The focus of last weeks training was breaststroke and freestyle skill
development. This week we will be working on butterfly technique, as well as
cleaning up everyone’s turns to make them race-ready. Keep up the great work
everybody!
Coach Jeff and Coach Wren
This past week we worked a lot with the swimmers on breastroke and freestyle.
Through many drills and kick sets, we helped to correct and strengthen these
strokes for each swimmer. So far everyone is doing awesome! It was great to see
everyone swim well in Creston and we saw lots of best times which is fantastic!
Coach Emily
This week was the last week of swimming so we had lots of fun and played lots of
games. I have had such a fun season with all of the kids and I think everyone had a
great time. Everyone improved so much and I am so proud of every single gator.
Great job everybody!!
SWIMMER OF THE MEET:
Congratulations to Cayden Cooke for a really successful
weekend. He competed in the Eliminator and took off 2
whole seconds in his 50 freestyle!! Keep up the great work
Cayden!
