What is Twitter and how is it useful?
How to start using Twitter:
 Twitter on your desktop – www.twitter.com
 Twitter on your mobile – download the app
How to start using Twitter:
1. Find and follow others
 Following someone on Twitter means:
 You are subscribing to their Tweets as a follower.
 Their updates will appear in your Home tab (Timeline).
 That person is able to send you Direct Messages.
Tip: One great way to find more interesting accounts is
see who those you know or admire are following.
How to start using Twitter:
2. See what’s happening
Messages from those you follow will show up in a readable stream on your
Twitter homepage, called your Timeline.
Tip: Click hashtagged keywords (#) to view all Tweets
about that topic
How to start Tweeting:
1. Retweet (RT), reply, react:
Retweet messages you like or wish to show support for
Reply to a Tweet you find interesting to publicly reply to that person.
Mention people by @username to draw their attention to a tweet.
Mentions will appear in a users’ Notifications tab and are publicly visible.
Content and integration:
1. Shorten your links:
 Use short-links services (such as www.bitly.com) to compress your links
and monitor if people have clicked on them.
2. Integrate other apps with Twitter:
 Many other services such as Mailchimp (email marketing) and
Instagram (photo-based social-media) provide the option of integrating
with Twitter for quick and easy posting of content

Choosing a deadline
Is there a day and time that will create the most impact for your message? That’s
when your Thunderclap campaign should end! We recommend running a campaign
for 2-3 weeks to give yourself plenty of time to recruit supporters.
