The October 2014 Newsletter
Fall should be in the air but we are still all wearing shorts and flip flops. I know it will be
here soon and we can start to enjoy the fun activities that fall brings.
The October Parent Discussion Night is October 9th from 6-7. The topic will be The
Pressures of Parenting. We look forward to having you join us in our informal, round table
discussion. Free child care is provided.
Preschool Picture Day is as follows: 2 Day and Pre K will be Thursday the 16th and 3 Day is
Friday the 17th. Picture envelopes are in your cubby.
The weather is still warm and we are still doing a lot of water play. Please make sure your
child has a swimsuit in their back pack and if you have borrowed Tree House clothes
please bring them back.
Please remember that billing is done by the 5th and your tuition is due by the 10th. If you
ever have any questions about your bill please speak with Janet or Cheryl.
Two Day: This class is really finding their way. They are separating more easily and
becoming more comfortable playing around other children. They love to come to circle
time and sign all the different songs. By far the cutest song is slippery fish. They are all
so animated and work so hard at getting the hand signs right. It is very cute!
Three Day: The Toucan class is a buzz with excitement every day. They love to dress up
and dance to the music from Frozen. Our favorite book in September was Is your Mama
a Llama? The loved reading the book and anticipating what would come next. It is a fun
introduction to rhyming. Outside the kids have been having fun making bubbles and going
through different obstacle courses.
PreK: These kids come to school ready to play. Many of the kids love to build with the
magnet blocks, snap robots or legos and another group loves to dress up and play house.
At circle time they have been enjoying singing and dancing. One of their favorite songs is
Pop Goes the Weasel Rock. They think it is so fun to hide from the weasel.
Enrichment: Our enrichment program is busy! Kids come over from school hungry and
ready to play. Most eat a huge snack and can’t wait to hear what the activities are so
they can get on with their play plan. Outside the kids have been mixing it up with soccer,
4 square, wall ball and ball tag. Playing games like these in a mixed age group is a learning
experience for all the kids. The younger kids have to figure out how to play in a rougher
crowd than they are used to and the older kids need to figure out how to bring their level
of play down a bit to accommodate everyone. We get a lot of practice on how to make it
work for everyone but there are times that feelings get hurt on both sides. Inside there
is a lot going on too. Art, finger weaving and pretend play are all exciting places to be.
Again there is a lot of learning to be done here too. Our motto is that we are all friends
at The Tree House and that means that all of our friends can join us in our play. These
kids are working to figure out how to make it work for all. Lots of practice is happening.
We are very excited to be starting our 6th year. If you ever have a problem, suggestion
or comment please feel free to send us an email, text or just grab us during the day. We
are always looking to improve and your comments help us do that!
