Strategic Plan Update, November 2013
Focus Area # 6: Engage with partners across the University to increase the amount, value, and
impact of OSU-produced digital content.
Key strategies: reorganize, rebalance skills, and revise work processes to increase engagement
with existing and potential partners and to increase capacity delivered by existing resources. In
addition, engagement between partners within the Libraries has increased by focusing on
building relationships among Digital Content Services, Digital Initiatives, AD&S, Special
Collections, and Digital Reformatting.
Overall progress: OSU content delivered by the Libraries is well used. The number of downloads,
world-wide, was nearly 2,000,000 for the first 10 months of 2013 alone. The quantity of OSULdelivered content continues to grow. We have shifted resources and streamlined processes to
handle the increased number of requests for partnering in the delivery of new content.
Initiative 6.1: Increase the amount of OSU-generated digital content managed by the Libraries
 Expanded Capacity by reorganizing and revising focuses
o Automated metadata ingest ( including reuse of
metadata found in other databases)
o New employee, Susie Petrak, will do marketing
which relieves the librarians (esp. Maureen) to
work on more technical and strategic aspects
o Switching to IT tracking system
o Indicators of progress:

Focus Area # 6: Engage with partners across the University to increase the amount, value, and
impact of OSU-produced digital content.
Initiative 6.3: Enhance the impact of our campus partners’ digital content by broadening access
to it.
 Digital Content Services is working with IT to set up a tool that will allow partners to pull their
own usage data from the KB. This communicates and enhances value for partners.
