• PSK time window opened
– Window is now from the snap to end of the
kick
• PSK enforcement if kick goes beyond the
Expanded Neutral Zone (ENZ)
– Previously kick had to end beyond ENZ

• PSK foul treated as a change of possession
foul.
-Therefore in a double foul situation R may
retain possession by declining K foul and PSK
foul is automatically enforced.

• During a scrimmage kick play other than try
• Ball crosses expanded neutral zone
• Foul by R is beyond expanded neutral zone
and before the end of the kick
• R has ball at end of the down

• PSK never applies on made FG (R does not
have ball)
• PSK may apply on missed FG
• PSK does not apply in OT
• PSK fouls may offset K fouls
– R may decline K foul and accept PSK
enforcement of their penalty

PSK Definitions
• PSK Foul (2-16-2-g)
• PSK Spot - where the kick ends (2-40-6)
– Kick ends when a player gains possession or
becomes dead while not in player possession
(2-23-2)
• Expanded Neutral Zone - NZ may be
expanded up to 2 yards behind the defensive
line of scrimmage (2-27-2)
