Federal Ministry of Finance - International contest for students

Global-Classroom G20 Finance Track
2 May 2017
International contest for students: Represent your generation in the context of
the G20 Finance Track
As part of the Global Classroom in the G20 Finance Track, we are inviting school students to enter our contest that will
provide the winners with an opportunity to travel to Hamburg, where they can discuss their own ideas and solutions
with G20 experts. To take part in the contest, students are asked to submit an entry focusing on one of the two following
questions:
▪
Global challenges require global solutions. Do you agree or disagree, and why?
▪
Why is digitalisation an important issue for the G20?
Winners will have the opportunity to experience first-hand what it is like to engage in international cooperation at the
highest political level. The Joachim Herz Stiftung, the German Federal Ministry of Finance, and the Deutsche
Bundesbank will select the best contest entries and invite the winners to travel to Hamburg from 5–9 July 2017, at the
same time that the G20 summit will be taking place. In Hamburg, the students will take part in a multifaceted
programme, meet other students from around the world, and discuss their ideas with international experts and decisionmakers.
Individual students or groups of students may submit entries. To be eligible to enter the contest, they must live in a G20
country. They must also be a member of a team, or independently enrolled in the Global Classroom in the G20 Finance
Track (registration is still possible). The Global Classroom’s website offers educational materials that explain the
financial and economic priorities of Germany’s G20 presidency. Students can use these materials to help them prepare
their contest entries. Winners must be between 16 and 19 years of age at the time of travel.
Entries may be submitted via the Global Classroom’s website until 11:59 pm C E T on 25 May 2017, via the website of
the Global Classroom. Students may choose the appropriate format for their entry (for example, a 2.000-words-essay, a
3 min.-video or a 1-page-poster). All entries must be submitted in English. The winning entries will be selected by a
high-level jury and announced by early June 2017.
If you would like to find out more about the contest please login to the course section of the Global Classroom. If you
