Classroom policies
The following is a list of class policies that help me to ensure that your class is a friendly and productive learning environment.
These rules may add to or elaborate upon rules already stated in your student handbooks. Rules stated within the student
handbooks will also be enforced. A hard copy of these policies will be distributed to students at the beginning of the year and
students will be asked to have their parent(s) / legal guardian(s) read these over and sign them, acknowledging that they have
read over the classroom expectations.


1) Come prepared for class.

2) Please be on time.


3) Any behavior that disrupts class will not be tolerated.

4) Please be respectful.

5) Please do not bring food or candy into class.



6) If you have a problem with something or are upset about something, please don't hesitate to speak with me about it.
Just please talk with me at an appropriate time, before or after class.
Electronic Use Policy
Students are encouraged to look over their student
handbooks in order to better understand the district policy
on cell phone usage. According to district policy, students
may use cell phones in non-instructional areas during noninstructional times. Teachers may use discretion as to how
cell phones are used during class. The following is my
policy for cell phone usage:
If a student brings a cell phone, ipod, MP3 player, or other
electronic device in class, the device must be off or
on silent mode during class time. If a phone rings, chirps,
or makes any noise during instructional time, the phone
may be confiscated by Mr. Stevens and brought to the
dean's office. Mr. Stevens may also write a dean's referral
if a cell phone "goes off", distracting class. Mr. Stevens
may also write a referral for students improperly using
their phone during class (such as texting another student).
A situation may arise where students can ask Mr. Stevens
to use their phone during class time. In all of those
situations, it is the student's responsibility to ask Mr.
Stevens beforehand. Such situations could include the
following:
- Taking a photo of notes from the dry-erase board
- Doing research online for class projects
- Utilizing an online dictionary, thesaurus, or translator
- Listening to music while doing independent work
