Valleylab™ Exchange Remote Software System 1-1 Overview Overview The Valleylab Exchange (VLEX) v3.1.5 client is used for remote device management on Covidien’s Valleylab FT10 energy platform and Valleylab LS10 generator. The remote device management includes the following functionality: • Perform first-time setup for a new generator. • Perform a generator software update. • Automatically retrieve logs and configuration information from the generator and upload that information to a server. Precaution Read all warnings, precautions, and instructions provided with this system before use. Notice The screen examples in this manual may vary depending on user type and privileges (e.g., Covidien vs. non-Covidien user), generator type, and whether the application is in Online or Offline mode. While using Valleylab Exchange, only one generator at a time can be connected to the computer. System Requirements Important The Valleylab Exchange application requires at least 9.5 GB of free space on the system (primary drive) for installation of the application. The Valleylab Exchange application works on the WindowsTM* platform and has been verified to work on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 SP1 64-bit in all language versions. 1-2 Valleylab™ Exchange Remote Software System Online and Offline Modes The Valleylab Exchange application can be used while connected to the server over the Internet (Online mode), or without an Internet connection (Offline mode). If a Valleylab FT10 energy platform is connected to the computer, it may need to be disconnected in order to switch to Online mode. When a new Valleylab Exchange account is created, the user will not be able to sign in from Offline mode until first signing in from Online mode. After signing in once from Online mode, the ability to sign in from Offline mode will be enabled as long as the user signs in from Online mode at least once every 90 days to refresh the account. Valleylab Exchange must be in Online mode to: • Download, install, and configure Valleylab Exchange. • Establish a connection to the server prior to first-time setup. • Sign in for the first time after creating a new account, and once every 90 days to refresh the account. • Download software packages for a generator software update. • Upload generator logs to the server. Before signing in or clicking First-Time Setup, the indicator at the bottom right of the SIGN IN screen will be green if Valleylab Exchange is in Online mode. Valleylab™ Exchange Remote Software System 1-3 Online and Offline Modes After signing in or clicking First-Time Setup, there are two indicators showing that the application is in Online mode: one next to Server in the menu pane, and one in the lowerright corner.
